I think it was in this thread that I said I would post a photo of a quilt I was working on for my guild's show. The quilt was part of a raffle basket, "Dog's Life", that included a tote bag made with puppy face fabric, dog biscuits, a dog blankie, and a certificate for a custom needle-felted sculpture of the winner's pet or other animal. Photo is me sewing on the buttons for eyes and noses at the show. A variety of buttons helped add personality to the faces and I also used a few large black pompoms for noses - so cute. Last minute work, but I think it helped to have the quilt out on display so people could see it. The winner, a guild member, was thrilled because she had promised to make a raffle basket for a local dog rescue group. She donated the basket she won and saved herself a lot of work, plus it can make more money for another great cause.

Terrie,
Susie the Singer, or Fannie the Featherweight? I love naming things. But I suspect while you are getting to know her, she tell you her name. Nice find. And I like the idea of taking her places to teach your grandkids. Have fun!
Tribblemom, your quilt and accessories are so cute!

Terrie, I think your purchase was wonderful. I have one and I love it. You can go to the Singer site and look up when it was made. The serial number is on the bottom. I think you can still print out a certificate for it, saying when it was made. Kind of like a birth certificate for your new baby.It is very easy to keep it clean, oiled, lubed and running great. There are also classes at some of the larger quilt shows on Featherweight Maintenance. I am sure you will love your new machine.
Mine just returned (with me) from a trip to Hamilton, Missouri. Hamilton is the home of the Missouri Star Quilt Company. Our state guild had their spring meeting there and we got to spend 3 days there. The retreat center is very nice and I can not say enough good things about all the people we met. Everyone was so nice and polite. Jenny was wonderful. She gave us a trunk show one evening and we had a half day class with her the next day.
Now to the bad part. I definitely broke my new years resolution about not buying more fabric I had to get some 10 inch precuts for the class I took. I also bought some to make a Christmas gift. I also bought a box of the red Wonder clips and a set of the Bloc Lock rulers. Very necessary purchases. Right???
The All People Quilt Resolution for this month is number 12. I worked ahead and have that one done, so I can finish the quilt I started in Jenny's class. Yeah!!
Oh, another thing Terrie. The featherweights can be addictive. I am sure you will have another someday.

Enjoy your Featherweight, Terrie! I have had one for almost a year now but haven't taken the time to learn how to use it yet. I hear they need oiled on a regular basis.
I'm doing pretty good keeping my WIP's at 10 or less. Of course I have other projects that I consider UFO's or just abandoned for now. Most of them I will get back to at some point. My current project was inspired by the last big rain we had last week that filled up the lake at our country home overnight. We had been in drought conditions for several years. I designed it and started it yesterday. This is the center block which I will be using in Marsha McCloskey's Lady of the Lake Feathered Star block. I didn't think to bring her book back with me to my city home, but I did find a picture online of a quilt someone else made. I was able to draft it in EQ. Since I seldom follow anyone's pattern exactly I decided to replace the center with this block which I found in Jinny Beyer's Quilter's Album of Patchwork Patterns and is also called Lady of the Lake. I paper pieced the block since it needed to finish at 12 1/2". Setting in the center square was a challenge. My next step is to make 128 HST's. I will use triangle paper for those.

Thanks for all the congratulations on my new baby.
Cathy - you hit a jackpot or a sinkhole, depending on how you feel about breaking your NYResolution.
Mine is not to buy new fabric, but I think I may have to in order to do up a mystery quilt before I present the pattern to the guild. Not to show them, but so I know what and how the glitches of the written pattern, so I can be as plain as I can be. Well, I said I "may'. We'll see.
Thanks for the info about getting a birth certificate... it may help me make up my mind about a name. I've not been one to name/personalise machines before. However, I know some people name their cars too.

Very nice block Annis. You do such lovely work.
Terrie you will think I am strange. I name most everything. My current car is Bart. He wears the license plate of my previous car, Ruby. Ruby saved my life in 2008, so I put her name on Bart's back. You can never have too much good karma! All my cars have had a name. They seem like good friends to me.
And my Bernina 730 is Sybil. She's appropriately named!
Have fun with your new little wonder!
