      Thanks Wendy,
Here goes I want to post my Christmas houses and ask advice about what colour to use for the sashing that just goes across the quilt, I have some black and white stripes but I am very undecided......anyway here is the photo I hope and also the fabric.

Thank you so much Wendy ...I think it has worked.

What I would do is lay the blocks directly on top of the different sashing possibilities and see how it looks each way. That can also help you to decide the width of the sashing strips.

Wow Anne it's stunning. I'd go for the stripes

Anne, your houses look so great, I love them! I think that what Nancy suggests is a good idea and it's what I always do. But will you be sashing between the houses and trees? I love them in rows just as they are on your design wall. I too like the stripe but couldn't be certain until I saw both fabrics behind them. Good luck and I hope you show us a photo when you make the decision.

Anne, there's nothing I can add to the advice because it's what I would have said, too. I LOVE your Christmas houses!

Thank you all for your advice...I will do as you say and lay the blocks on the fabric....take photo's and decide then.
Rita I plan to join the rows just as they are then just put sashing across the rows.
If I have enough fabric I will also use it for the top and sides, I may have to buy more fabric......how dreadful that would be

Anne, I love your houses! When you audition your striped sashing, be sure to try it in both directions.

Hmm...I am the black sheep--I think the other fabric would look good. There is a lot of black in the background fabric and I think that when you use the striped fabric it might be lost.; especially if it is run with the stripes horizontally. Vertically or on the diagonal might work. Just my opinion because, after all, it is your quilt.

Very lovely houses. All has been said - to audition is the best thing to make sure you have the desired result. I'm not sure of the proportions of the motifs of your fabrics compared to the houses. I think they should remain "center stage".

Yes, audition of course, but I agree with Ritzy. NOT the stripes.
