    Hexagons

I would love to learn how to sew hexagons. Houston had several hexagon quilts and Alex's lesson has me really interested. Can anyone recommend a good book that explains the basics and offers examples?

How about Mickey Depre's 'Pieced Hexies'?

By the way, where's Alex's lesson? I looked in the classroom section and didn't find it ops:

There was also a very useful lesson from Alex on Show 1111. And further to that my suggestion is that if you do decide to use Superior's Bottom Line thread then you should consider fastening the loose end of the thread the way the ThimbleLady (Liuxin Newman) does in Ep.310. The Bottom Line thread is great because it is so thread but it's also very springy so battening it down stops it from wanting to jump right out of the eye of the needle.

Forget Bing, Yahoo! and Google. The best search engine around is "Margo"!

Thank you all so much!!! I am armed with a load of information and am going to sit down tonight and give it a try. Quilters are the most sharing/caring people.

Hexagons have been on my to do list for quite awhile and after watching the way Alex did them I had to give them a try . . . . and now I can't watch TV without making them!! They are just easy and fun.

I also tried the normal thread basting and that works fine too, but I think I prefer Alex's way. Always more than one way to do anything in quilting.

I think I will applique these around a border on a medallion quilt that is also on my to do list.
