Oh how silly of me!! The shock of seeing all that glorious hair made me confuse Lorchen with that other "across the pond" gal!! LOL!!

HOBBS 80/20 seems to be fairly flat / holds up well in kids quilts/ needles well. It also was the first batting I tried and I have tried several battings but I end up back with the HOBBS 80/20. IT can be gotten at JoAnn's on a Sunday is another really good reason.

I stay away from FUSIBLE batting as I do not like chemicals.... I also stay away from spray adhesives for same reason.... I either pin or uses SHARON SCHAMBER'S herringbone stitching techniques. Since I do not get to sew often the thread basting method works to keep the quilt tops secure between long sessions.

The lazy way to thread baste is to take your quilt to a longarmer and let them do it.

That's not lazy, that is exceedingly smart!! Spend your time piecing while she bastes it for you!!

            http://freemotionquilting.blogspot.c...ith-scale.html

LEAH DAY discusses scale in quilting ... this is helpful to read when your are trying to decide how to quilt your large blocks. I always find her helpful.

As to BASTING by long armer... I think it is a good idea for larger quilts. My LONG- ARMER will do stitch in the ditch around blocks as basting and then I do not have to rip it out.... works good for both of us.

            Have fun with your project.

As soon as I finish ACLS class next week I have two baby quilts to work on.... I plan to do it in a fun way.

LABELS: I hired an embroiderer to make 10 embroidered labels I fill in the dates on the lable when I put it in the quilt. I love this method cause otherwise I would not label my quilts.

Guys, I know I don't need to make another quilt as my husband just suggested. But I want to so badly. It's like asking Vincent Van Gogh not to paint. Now I don't mean my quilts are any gift to the world. I just want to play with the colors but I understand my husband's wishes. Maybe if I get the house and everything into great shape I could get him to see it as OK. I also could make a smaller quilt by not setting the blocks on point. Then it could be a throw for the couch. It's just I love the look of blocks on point. It would be my first time doing it. But maybe I'm not ready because the quilting would be a challenge at this stage. The final size I figured was not a king size but 66x66. That's a bit smaller than my last quilt. I only work one day a week so I have the time. Will let you know how it goes. Jan

Jan, I hope it works. Do you have a sister, friend, etc. who would like you to make a quilt for them? Maybe they could beg you to make it in front of your DH? Maybe even offer to pay you for it? Ok, I am sneaky and devious! I will admit it. I guess that would mean you would have to give the quilt to them. Unless they change their mind about wanting it. I just hope you can make the quilt. My last excuse was to use up some of the material I have lying around. I am also making one to sell (?). My DH really likes it, so if he tells me to keep it I will be happy too.
