Hi, I finished my six squares in a square for the paper piecing sampler with Alex. I used my stash, since I had some beautiful Kaffe Fassett fabrics, and others in there! Can’t wait to do more!

Love your fabric choices and centers! Also, enjoy hearing that you’re using David Sirota’s method. Although I am not working on this project, I am using it to piece my Trinket quilt and really prefer it over the traditional FPP method…so very similar to freezer paper method. I use my Bernina 10D foot and Sewline glue stick, and I’m very pleased with the accuracy on the Trinket’s little 4” blocks. I love not having to rip the paper off and the ability to reuse the vellum template.

Linda P, Did you like using the glue, vellum and stitching next to the paper better than traditional FPP? I love, love, love your fabrics. Great idea to fussy cut the center square. HelenW

Yes I love this method with the glue and vellum. It is not messy at all and the vellum really holds up well. I did all six blocks with one printed sheet of vellum. The best part though, is not tearing out the paper. I have some arthritis in my hands so tearing out paper is not really an option for me.

I have tried doing this with water soluble paper and that also works well but you go through a lot of that pricey paper.

I raided my Kaffe stash to supplement the TQS bundle. Also swapped out the linen-like fabric for cotton- found almost exact matches from Kauffman. I plan to make larger quilt so needed more fabrics to work with.

Show and Sharing my storm at sea block. Square in square in the corners are 1.5 inches finished. Could not do it without FPP
method. I am playing add on as I go. Decided to use Alex.s class to finish a fox wall hanging. HelenW

OMG! Talk about getting your head wrapped around it! When sewing a more involved block, no matter how tired you get, if your on a roll ....don't stop! I got finished with piece 8 and was exhausted so stopped for the day. The next day when I went back to it I made MULTIPLE mistakes. What a mess!!!! What should have taken an hour to finish took me 3-4 hours! Yikes. But now done and I love it.
