I am really enjoying this - making a quilt for my Mom, using her stash and mine (mostly hers, she loved browns). She is in long term care because of dementia and I hope this will bring her some joy. She was a quilter in her hay day! (Photo is sideways)

I started to choose fabric for some easy blocks back in August, using a theme fabric I like but find difficult to use.
So, I tried the color wheel like Alex showed us in the Kaffe fabric/Alex' mystery quilt.
Joen Wolframs color guide helped me decide that orange and turquoise was the main "ingredients", but very toned down.
So, I have chosen fabric from my stash and only bought 12" of a darker turquoise and decided to do baskets because I've always liked the Postage Stamp Basket. And then Alex said she's making a basket quilt

Here are my blocks so far; waiting for class on the basket handle before I finish the Cherry Basket. Flowers are fussy cut from two of the fabrics and will be machine appliquéd. Leaning towards outlining the cherry basket with more background fabric. Planning to keep the quilt on point.

Durstgirls, I like your fabric choices, very pretty with the purples!

I just love making these baskets! Thank you Alex! I’m still working on my mystery quilt. I had to be gone for 3 weeks So I’m still working on the borders. But I take a break every so often and work on baskets. I love the piecing and the challenge of working with size and value.

I finished piecing my basket quilt today but included my “red work” cats from a Rosie deLeon McCrady pattern that were looking for a home. What cat doesn’t love a basket to hide in?
