Loved this class! Definitely stepped out of my comfort zone and learned so much. The border is not sewed on yet. The border fabrics and large blocks are from a fabric line that Alex designed. Since I was named "teacher's pet", I felt pressure to make this look good. (Don't want to be kicked out of class! lol) Thank you Alex!

Amazing Quilt! Love your color palette and the way you arranged the colors: A Rainbow of Hope! Just what we need in these crazy times. Your daughter will love the quilt!

Is it necessary to wash Brassica before inserting in a hanging quilt, which will never be laundered? If so, would I have to starch the fabric? I'm a newby to the forum. Thanks.

Amazing quilt! You did a fantastic job with both the front and back of the quilt! I love to see the backs of quilts and your quilt back is perfect! Congrats on your beautiful masterpiece!!

If you never plan to wash it you probably don't need to wash it to shrink and set the colors, but If you ever have an unfortunate thing happen, and it does have to be washed.
you might wish you had washed it in advance. Besides if you give it to someone and they know nothing about quilts or fabric wall hangings they might wash it and it could
cause problems. It does not take that long to wash and set the color. Batik are the worst for colors bleeding, but I always use Synthrapol to set color and wash to shrink.
I use starch on the fabric because it make you rotary cuts easier and more accurate. Hope this helps. HelenW

I agree with Helen. Washing doesn't take that long. I've recently had red fabrics from quality manufacturers bleed, even after washing. I've got to washing reds until they stop bleeding - some took 3 passes. But better than having a finished quilt spoiled.

Yes, I would definitely prewash your fabric. Dry and starch before cutting.
On another note: polka dots. If you are having trouble finding Kaffe polka dots, go to

Speak to Tracy or Amy. Their shop
Is featured in this month’s Quilt Sampler.

I’m not quite finished that’s why I ordered some polka dots. My quilt needs “something.” Suggestions appreciated.
                      Thanks,
                      Mary

I agree that you should pre-wash your fabric. When dry, starch and iron before cutting.
On another note, if you are looking for Kaffe fabrics or like in my case, polka dots, I recommend
                        lyonquilting.com in Colorado. 303-823-6067.
They are featured in this month’s Quilt Sampler.

I’m not finished with mine and I thought it needed something more. Hence the polka dots. Any suggestions are welcomed.
                        Thanks,
                        Mary

I finished the quilt top today and I am happy with it. This mystery was a wonderful adventure and I am looking forward to the basket sew-along. Now that we are back in school in person and I am back at work, I cannot watch live but I catch up in the evening.

My Kaffe quilt top is waiting to be custom Quilted Alex but I wanted to thank you for this creative experience. My passion is appliqué so although I have been quilting for many years I tend to avoid machine piecing. I learned so much Alex. I had a single hole throat plate but never used it, finally feel like I am better with my quarter inch seams, have started a solids stash which I usually avoid. Who knew I would prefer glue over pins. I now own a cordless Panasonic and what a difference with my new wool mat. Looking forward to learning more with the baskets. Thanks again.

Nice quilt! I like your color choices and layout design. And totally agree with having the tools to get the job done! I loved my Rowenta until I purchased my Panasonic cordless from
                              the TQS store.

PennyLC...I really like your quilt. I also have a Panasonic cordless iron and love it. I think my all-time favourite iron is a Reliable but mine quit and they are so expensive.
