Thanks Annis. I was worried about the other strips ending up too small if I used a scant 1/4", I guess I will just have to measure carefully.

Annis..I think you're on the money with paper piecing log cabins...no matter what size they are
a bit challenging to get accurate. Mine are far from perfect but will do for this project.
Now to think on how to assemble !

        Stars from last week finished...
And log cabins for this week - wish I had had greater difference in value between the light side & the dark side, but I was constrained by what I had enough of left over. There is a difference between the outside one on the lighter half, and the inside one on the dark half - honest!

Marilyn, Your quilt looks great. And Rosemary, I am loving those colors no matter what the value differences. It looks so happy and cheerful.

Wow, I can't say enough about everybody's blocks! Rosemary's beautiful hand-dyed blocks, Marilyn's civil war fabrics, Annis' fall colors, Lois and Nancy's twisted blocks... and I'm going to catch up on this week's and last week's blocks when my house guests leave on Friday. I've barely had the time to log on and keep up with y'all!

Agree they are all so interesting and quite different looks.

I'd love it, Wendy! It would be company of a different kind! Never had the opportunity to sew along with someone. I feel like I've been a Chinese and Italian restaurant for the past two weeks to almost a dozen people... It was a lot of fun, though... my 11 and 12 year old nieces just finished putting dessert in the oven. They wanted to learn how to bake during their sojourn here. Is there a smiley face for exhausted???

Sounds fun but messy. It'll be a bit quiet for you then when they are gone.

We've got a slight problem with the time difference sewing along  are you any good at time travelling?

Wendy, I'll make myself good for time travel! I've been to the UK several times but every one of them was business-related so, after seeing photos of your neighborhood and the chicken coop, you bet I'm going to revv up that time machine and be there instantly! Will bring the home-made limoncello! This time my business will be sewing and hanging out with you!

Lois, I might be missing something, but if you turn the block that is on the right side in the picture, one quarter turn--wouldn't it be laid out the same as the block on the left?

Yep! I tried that but it was mirror images I was dealing with and a 1/4 turn in either direction ended being the same thing. I was sure that was all I had to do but it just didn't work. I get mixed up so easily anyway. I have notes on all the paper piecing SEW ON THIS SIDE! So far its working.
