    The new "Fusion" midarm/longarm

The HQ 16 people are coming out with a new 24" version called the Fusion. The introductory price is not much more than we were quoted for the HQ 16 - so it is very tempting.
Are there any opinions out there on the advisability of buying the Fusion - untested?

I upgraded from a HQ-16 to a Fusion almost immediately after they came on the market (I think I have #57) almost 2 years ago. I LOVE my Fusion!!! It is the perfect size. I can do 12 inch blocks that are set on point and any panto on the market (that I've found); yet for free-hand designs, my back doesn't suffer reaching to the farthest spots in the quilting area (I have also quilted on the APQS Millennium). I am big on ease of use - give me too many buttons and I get overwhelmed, so I especially like the HQ machines. I've had almost zero down time and that down time was my own doing (ran over a ruler and knocked the machine out of time the first week I had it). And, about a year after I got it, I tried a function I'd never used before and there was a glitch in the computer; they shipped me the parts and had a service guy here almost immediately, all at no charge to me! Service has been fantastic, with a local representative! I also love that I have a large bobbin and that my machine can handle any type of thread easily. I've even run embroidery and serger thread through it without difficulty. I HIGHLY recommend a Fusion to anyone who is looking for a long-arm, regardless of whether price is a concern or not!

I think around $12,000. (It's been nearly 2 years since I got mine and I haven't kept up with the prices). What is also nice about it is that it is easily convertible to a computerized machine should you decide you want that. (I think the additional software is in the $7-8,000 range.)
It includes a table, etc. I got mine as a 'model' when I went to a show where they are being demo-ed, which saved me a little bit. It was actually a brand new machine, too, as they hadn't used it at the show! If you live in/around Nebraska, Country Traditions in Fremont, NE is THE place to buy! Let them know Dwynette sent you.
