    Elmer's Washable Glue Sticks

HEADS UP my dear friends because it is "Back to School" time and in Oregon, Target stores have two packs of Elmer's Washable Glue Sticks for a mere 40 cents a pack. Time to stock up!!! They also have Elmer's glue in the bottle for 40 cents and the Washable markers for less than $2.

I'm 50 years old and love back to school days more now than when I was a youth. :P

Just be careful with where you store your glues and sticks.... Mine dried out even though they were still in the package un-opened. I think it was too close to a heater. Another problem I had was LITTLE HAND raided my storage... even though I had bought them their own set of glue sticks and glue bottle.....

It doesn't seem to matter where I buy the Elmer's Glue Sticks or how I store them, by the time I get to the second one in the pack, they are all dried up. I don't use them very often, but it's frustrating that they dry up before I get a chance to use them.

That is really strange! I just went to check my supply of glue sticks that I purchased about this time last year. I still have 15 glue sticks and they are all just fine.
I have both the gel type and the regular purple ones. I wonder if there is some way to see a manufacturing date on them??? Hmmmmmm

I had been told by someone else in my guild that glue sticks have a shelf life and don't last more than a couple of months after opening, and a couple of years before opening. I haven't run into that problem myself, though. The ones I've had on the shelf for years have still been good when opened. But Karen McTavish said the same thing about the blue marking pens when I took a class from her last spring. Again, mine have always worked fine no matter how long I've had them. Maybe it's climate dependent or something. I live in a dry area at high altitude.

I was told once long ago to keep my extra glue sticks in a baggie in the freezer.

I have not had any problems with the Elmer's glue sticks but I have with other brand names and it IS frustrating when you go to use the stick and find it all dried up.

My guess is that it's a climate thing.I live in a tempered zone, but I still keep mine in a refrigerator. I don't remember if someone told me or I read it somewhere.

I am going to have to try the freezer storage idea. I keep stocking up on gluesticks, but they keep drying out before I finish using them. It's not a great deal if I keep having to toss them out.

I do the same. So far no complaints and I've done it for quite a few years.

I live in Wyoming and I keep my markers, glues and anything of the nature that can dry out in ziplocks. They do dry out here but not in the bags.

Steam a Seam, crayons, markers and that type of product are always stored in plastic bags in my house for that reason.
