Sewing without getting backacahe
Hey, I am suffering from chronic back pain after I met with an accident last year. I was bedridden for more than a month. I had to undergo a pain relief treatment from Oakville in order to reduce the pain. I am planning to take rest for two more months.
My friend has advised me to adopt new hobbies so that I will not get bored. I think that sewing is an excellent option for a person like me. But, I fear that sitting in a bad position for long hours can invite trouble. Can anybody of you advise me on how to sew well without getting a back pain? Also, please share some sewing lessons for beginners like me.Tags: None

Tilting the machine so you can see the bed without hunching over greatly helps. I bought this www.allbrands.com/products/17756-sew-ergo-advantage-t1-sewing-machine-tiltable-tabl
Or you can buy two doorstops and place them under the back of the machine for a less expensive fix.
There are lots of videos here on TQS to help you with sewing. There are also wonderful quilting classes for beginners on www.Craftsy.com

Great tips. It's also helpful to keep your legs and feet in parallel positioning. This is easiest if you place a wedge similar to the foot peddle of your machine on the left side. Alternatively, the Singer 301 (an antique but excellent machine) has an adapter in the sewing cabinet to allow the foot peddle to be beside your knee - you simply press your knee to the side to operate the machine. (Some modern machines can be started and stopped with button on the face of the machine!)
I also ensure I get up every few minutes by keeping my pressing station across the room rather than on the sewing table.
I don't use this - but Leah Day recommends a back support. See it here: https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=mcafee&p=leah+day+video+back+brace#id=1&v id=e87bfa17951029dcc828ca72c54f5e28&action=click
