Denver National Quilt Festival -- anyone going?

Is anyone going to Denver this weekend? I have the honor of my peacock quilt being in the show! (I am SO EXCITED -- this is my first time being juried into a national show!) I so wish I could be there, but must attend a family wedding instead. I was wondering if one or some of you could look for my quilt and take photos of it. I'd really like to know how it's hanging, how it's lit, how the description posted by it looks, what quilts are near it, where in the context of the room it is located, etc. It is 34" square, is titled "Queen Bird" and depicts a peacock. I will post photos so you'll know better what to look for.

    I would be SOOOOO grateful!

    Many thanks,
    Heidi

Hi Heidi - My friend and I are going on Thursday. I'll try to remember to take some pictures, but probably won't remember all of the details that you want. I get pretty overwhelmed once we start looking at everything. Congratulations on your quilt getting in! It's stunning!!

Heidi, congratulations on your quilt being juried in at the Denver show. I know that must feel good even though you can't be there. Renata

Thank you, Nancy! That would be lovely!
Thank you, Renata, it really does feel awesome! My two little girls were with me when I received the letter, and they thought I had taken leave of my senses for about 15 minutes, I was so overwhelmed with excitement. My four-year-old would tell you Mommy was "freaking out." LOL

Congratulations, Heidi, I live far away from Denver and won't get to see your quilt except for this posting. I'd love to hear more about the details of design and construction. Lois

Thanks so much Sharon, I really appreciate it!

Hey, Lois, You might be able to find the thread from when I was in the process of finishing it -- last April or May. I can tell you I was trying out the techniques Susan Carlson describes in her book, titled Free-Style Quilts (http://www.susancarlson.com/Free-Style_Quilts.html). I can post more details in a few weeks if someone reminds me.

Heidi, congratulations on getting your quilt into the show. I am just that little bit too far away to go too but I look forward to seeing photos if Nancy remembers! And good luck too!

Wow! I'm so honored to have admiring comments from illustrious quilters in Ireland, Switzerland and Australia! Thanks Rita, Lotti and Cath! The really funny thing is that I am currently working on a landscape quilt and was strongly considering photos from Ireland and Australia!

Nancy, thanks so much for these photos! Did you enjoy the show? What was your impression of the winning quilts?

Betty Jo -- I remember talking with you about your mermaid quilt in the Hoffman Challenge from last year. I didn't realize it was you who made the knight quilt that was in this year's Hampton show! I really liked that one and took lots of photos, especially to share with my son, who loves knights and battles. What a great theme and so perfect with that Bible verse! Great job!

I would love to hear from anyone else who went to the Denver show about your impressions and favorites!

                          Love to all,

In terms of the context of the room, there was a long aisle of quilts on the right and several shorter
rows coming into the long aisle at right angles. Your quilt was on the second or third side row and,
most probably, seen by everyone who viewed the show. The show included quilts from all over the
country and the level of expertise was great as usual. Congratulations on having a quilt in the
                            show!

Heidi -- I didn't get as good a picture as Nancy did. Yes, like Judy said I feel it is a good show. I also LOVED the Best in Show quilt. The variety is great and workmanship is very inspiring and gives me incentive to try harder.
