    Monday is Here...

    Morning!

How is everyone's day starting? I am debating whether I should forgo quilt group this afternoon since we're supposed to get "a little" snow. Pat, I took a queue from you last night and actually got excited about our big storm coming. I need a few days to be hunkered down and get some stuff done without having to be interrupted by errands and whatnot.

Last night I found my fabrics for starting another baby quilt. I have to have this thing done by Saturday (when the shower is.) So of course I can't find the pattern I want... I can't find any of my patterns come to think of it. Or my folder with machine quilting pattern ideas, or my notes from quilting classes, or my stabilizer for machine embroidery, or my 505, or my pin up board (I don't know how I missed that one  ,) or my small strips I have been saving for scraps, or my 9 patches I have from a guild exchange!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!! I hate moving!!!!!! I have to have a bin somewhere; the stupid thing is I just went through everything this past fall... nowhere to be found. Of course I organized everything to try and find those patterns... no luck! So at least I have a clean and organized sewing room. :?

Hope everyone has an easy start to their Monday.

    Happy Stitching,

    Margaret

Margaret -- I hear you!! I cleaned up my sewing room for my gang's arrival over the weekend and now have to remember where I put everything!! And I'll add my "moving to Connecticut from Texas" story. Dh found a job here in CT after being "retired" from his company after a takeover, so he went off to the northeast while I was left to get the house sold and pack up as well. I took a trip up to see him (in training in Boston) and before I left the house, knowing that there would be people viewing the house, I put "in a safe place" the opal and diamond ring his aunt had given me before she died. Huge opal - diamonds -- a cocktail ring that I only wore for special occasions. While I was in Boston we had an offer on the house and when I got back I had to pack it up for moving. I could not find the ring -- I looked everywhere! Everywhere! I figured -- okay it will turn up when I unpack. I unpacked in Connecticut -- no ring. I was devastated -- and couldn't say anything to hubby -- but of course it was a cocktail ring so I figured, well, it's gone, it was worth a lot of money, but it's sentimental value was the most important thing. I prayed to St. Anthony (I'm a Catholic school graduate). Nothing. My mom's proverb: "Your possesions own you!" was ringing in my ears. We moved in 2004. This spring I was moving my stash around -- I keep it in plastic sterilite boxes -- and decided to clean out a few and reposition some of the fabric. There at the bottom of one of the boxes was the ring in it's little black box!! I was overjoyed! I called my one friend who I had told the story to -- she was overjoyed as well.
Now the postscript. I was determined not to lose it again -- so I put it "in a safe place" -- you got it! I can't find it again!!!!!!
So good luck with your search!!

Sorry Margaret. I was going to workout, but with the snow decided I better stay put. Starting to clean for my DS's birthday party this weekend. I need to get everything together for that too. I am very tired from a wonderful family weekend at the Dells so I have a feeling today will be more resting than much of anything else. Have a great day everyone.

Here in MA we're preparing for more snow as well.....4-6" Tues and another 14"-20" on Wed. They're saying ice comes with this one. As long as we keep our power, I'm happy.....swap blocks, BOM, some FM practice before quilting my DGD's Feb BDay gift. Pulling crockpot recipes this morning.
Peggy ~ I'm so happy you found your ring, even tho' it's "hidden" again....must be in another quilty place, LOL. Sentimental lost items are the worst!
Margaret ~ I hope you find your missing items.....I guess we all save just too much. When I first started this quilt journey, I only bought the pattern and enough fabric, thread, batt for the project at hand. Too late to turn back now, I could sew/quilt/knit all day, every day, for next 15 years without buying a thing, LOL!!
          Have a great day all.

Hahaha Peggy, I'm sorry that you can't find your ring but that story is SO familiar. I lost a bracelet my mom had made for my engagement and I lost it after our first move. Yea I found it on this move. It's been "hidding" for 4 moves... On a bright side I found a cute panel that will work instead of my "missing" pattern. So I should go do that this afternoon.

              Good Afternoon,
It's actually sunny here at the moment. That storm is suppose to hit us tonight with 1" of snow then change to ice, then rain sometime tomorrow. I will have to see if I can get to work tomorrow. The worse part for me is that dh left this AM to drive to RI. 1-I'll have to shovel/snow blow the drive, 2- DH may not be able to drive back on Wed if the storm is as bad as they say. I'll take it a day at a time.

Yesterday my sister came over for some quilting scraps. I went through all of my bins of stash. She left with a plastic bin and garbage bag full of fabric. I also have 5 large garbage bags of fabric to donate to the Salvation Army for their annual sale. I organized batting pieces and most of the fabric. I still need to refile fabric that I pulled for projects but never put away. This was something I've wanted to do for a long time. DH was glad to see so much is leaving. I'm not telling him how much is staying.

Over the weekeend I also finished my sil's UFO. It was a simple quilt made from the teapot and teacup blocks from our swap a few years ago. I turned out ok. I finished it with the envelope method and was not real pleased with the outcome. SIL was thrilled with the quilt. She collects teapots so it was perfect for her.

I also started on my next 50th year quilt - a crazy quilt for my brother. I may be able to have it done by his 50th b'day. If so this will be the first 50th ear quilt to be done on time. I hate when you start aproject behind schedule, but I should be abel to catch up now.

Everyone stay warm and dry for the next few days. Looks as if many of us will be affected by this storm.

Yea, Lyn - it's supposed to hit us here in Southern Ct tomorrow into Wednesday -- more on Friday. But right now I'm just hoping we don't get ice -- that is really the worst and I've already lost 2 big fir trees to ice a couple of years ago -- don't want to lose the other two. But I should get a lot of quilting done -- I've got enough food for the next few days at least!

We're expecting the same storm here in Jersey so I spent Monday taking care of business outside of the house, saw orthopedic dr. first thing in AM, then to supermarket, later met friend for lunch and stopped for a quick hair cut on the way home. Last Saturday I picked up some backing and border fabrics at Joann's with my 50% and 40% coupons so now I'm all set to stay in a few days to tackle some quilty stuff. May

Well, the major part of that storm missed us...we did get some snow but not alot. I got alot done Monday.... finished two projects and pulled out some fabric and a pattern to make a vest for my son's girlfriend's birthday...it is superbowl sunday so we will be celebrating both events that day. She is into horses so plan to put a silhouette of a horse on the back of the vest.

Yesterday I made more coasters and reversible placemats.... don't think I posted pics yet of either set yet so will now....the first set had a tablerunner to match and the 2nd set had the reversible placemats. Also made a set of potholders and coasters for my daughter and a set of coasters for myself! I told DH I rarely think to make anything just to keep for myself! LOL

                        Nice placemates and coasters Patsy
I finally got all my cutting done for the mysteries Sunday. Been working on addressing envelops for my swaps only have 6 more to go and i'm finished. Then I have to work on finishing the 2nd mugrug for that swap and some plastic canvas projects for a Valentine swap. It's supposed to rain the next couple of days and get colder so will have to go into town today to get all the monthly stuff done.
                        Have a good day everyone.
