    Vacation to Smoky Mountains

My DH and I are going to the Smoky Mountains to celebrate our 45 wedding anniversary. I am packing some hand sewing to do, but I would like to know if there is a "must visit" quilt shop in the Sevierville area? We are not big on amusement parks, but we will probably hike some trails while we are in the area. My DH plans on doing alot of reading, so I will shop hop. He can read in the car can't he. We will be there the 4th through the 7th. Not long, but we have another trip planned for San Antonio in March! We love road trips. Thanks!

The Cherry Pit is a beautiful Quilt Shop in Sevieville and is located at 115 Bruce Street.

Love hiking in the Great Smoky Mts. I've been to the Cherry Pit and really liked it. There is also a quilt shop in Pigeon Forge. We usually stay in Gatlinburg because it is so close to the Park. There are lots of great trails in there to hike. Several that are only an hour or so and some that are a day hike. There are lots of great restaurants on the main road through Gatlinburg. Pigeon Forge is a big tourist trap and depending on the time of day, traffic through there can be very slow. They have widened the roads some so last time we were there it wasn't so bad. Have fun, it is one of our favorite places to go.

Thanks for the info Radquilter and Frances. I am heading down to my sewing room to pack up some supplies for the trip. I don't know what my DH will say about the FW, but you never know when you might need a machine. I have to take the quilt off of the design wall and pack it. I need to applique about twenty small circles on it and it will be ready to quilt. I guess I will take all BSS. If I find Ranae's book I may want to play with that too. Ok, I will throw in some paper, pens, colored pencils. It is supposed to rain the whole time, so maybe we will skip the hiking trails. I'm glad the quilt shops stay open in the rain.  I will take my laptop so I can keep up on what is going on here.
