WooHoo, my husband just asked if I'd like to go to Houston for a week in October to coincide with Quilt show. Guess what my answer was. YESSSSS please. So hopefully I'll get to meet some of you, even if I dont get to do a RT retreat this year. Why is October such a long way off? Pam

In leafy Berkshire, south of England.

How exciting Pam. It will be great to see you again. We will all figure out times to meet up when the time gets a little closer but for sure we will meet up. I have told Hanne-Grete (Brink of Norway) that I will be there if they have to push me around on a gurney!!!!!!LOL So looking forward to seeing you again. Hugs, Ann

Well I was hosting bee the other night and was “crying” about not going to Houston and my friend Donna said it I could find a room, she’d go with me. We looked and found one at the Club Quarters and kitchenette so we can make breakfast and have snacks in the room A 11 minute walk to the Convention Center but you know, I average 5 miles for my walking program so ½ a mile is nothing.

My DH now says he’d probably go too. So I booked the room and our flights if he decides not to go I’ll use the credit on SWA for another trip. All things work out for the best. I hope to be more timely at the 1PM meetings this year. I missed them last year, my timing was off and that hall is really big!

            Very excited now!

Who is going to the show? I have a number of friends who entered quilts and they just got word they were accepted. Not sure how easy it will be to get a room at this point. Any recommendations on best place to stay? Deb

Dh and I will be there this year. We will be staying in a campground not too far from the convention center and of course will have our "toad" (the car we tow behind the motorhome when we are traveling). So far I know that Pam (from England), Hanne-Grete (from Norway) and Dana (from Mississippi) will be there.

Not sure how many else are going but we usually try to meet up at the TQS booth at 1:00 p.m. each day and for some other events. More will be posted I am sure.

In '07 when I decided to go I was able to find a motel quite a way out so the sooner you start calling the better. Some one may have a room to share too. I found a roommate with a car so that worked out well for me.

It is a great trip so hope you and your friends can join us. Ann (now in Minnesota and will travel to Illinois and Missouri before landing in Texas in October)

Just signed up for Lecture on Thursday - Punch Needle, the all Sample class on Friday 10-12 and Lunch on Friday. So it looks like I'll only be able to make the 1PM meeting on Thursday.

Please post here if that is still an option.

Ann: Which campground do you stay in? We are thinking about bringing our Motorhome/Toy Hauler which we use for all of my booth stuff but not sure of the campgrounds in Houston. I have been looking at Lake View RV Resort. We normally stay at the La Quinta on Buffalo Speedway so this is not much further out. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Joy

Ricky is doing a lunchtime concert, called 'Totally Ricky Tims' on the Saturday from 12-2pm. DH and I have signed up for it. I have seen his concert before, but definitely want to see it again!!! Looking forward to meeting up with some of you. Pam in wet UK.

Thanks to QuilterLynn and a good Houston map we plan to stay in LakeView RV Resort. I called a couple of weeks ago and cannot make a reservation yet. Need to wait until closer to the dates we want. It would be fun to have a contingent of RV quilters at the same resort so we could share notes about quilting in the RV.

As far as a schedule in Houston, I have not sent in my registration yet but definitely will be going to Ricky's concert. I have been to two of his concerts at quilt shows and one "private" one at retreat. They are always super and each one is different. Having it at lunch time will allow some of us to sit together and enjoy it even more with special friends.

I do not plan to take classes during the days of the exhibition but may take some on Monday and Tuesday. In '07 I did Super Seminar for two days and tried to see the show and visit the vendors on lunch breaks and after seminar and in one full day. Not possible with an old broken down gets tired easily body so this year the schedule will be cut back to allow more time to spend with friends and see the quilts. And of course visit the many vendors. I have been quilting primarily from my stash all year and plan to replenish it in Houston. Vendors - look out Ann is coming- LOL

So with great anticipation, I am waiting for October to arrive and to see all of you but especially Brink and Pam.

Hugs to all, Ann the RVquilter.

Ann, October can't come quick enough!!! I've signed up for a couple of one hour lectures. Thought they would be enforced sitting down/rest time, but I will learn something at the same time. I find it hard when I'm on my own to physically stop and rest for too long, although my body is saying it's had enough. its better when you are with someone else and you sit and chat at the same time. I had better get in training and build my energy levels up abit. Lol. :-) Pam

That's why we always pick one day for a luncheon, the talk is usually very good, the food is also good and it's 2 hours of down time. Well worth the time and $$
