From Nancy (Rehak) -- Look at this cool mod flower!!! Apparently I've been vocal about my love of flowers/nature, LOL! Bright cheery colors, and the background is actually really narrow strips, some going one way, some the other; it's hard to tell in the photo because they are all similar in tone/value, but up close it's amazing! She did this gorgeous kind of swirly, floral, free motion quilting in all the background space, and it just really makes the flower pop even that much more! I hope to be that talented one day!!
Last, but definitely not least, received just yesterday from Renata --- look at this! Perfectly sized & pieced little narrow strips in all these gorgeous blues & greens, which perfectly match my favorite mug & saucerAnd the whole thing is quilted in I think it's called clamshell quilting?? gorgeous. Renata probably does not know, but the first thing I ever quilted myself, I quilted by hand (a little 12" x 12" wall hanging) and I quilted that pattern (the clamshell motif)! So it is really neat that she chose that, just by coincidence. Absolutely lovely!!
Ladies, thank you all so much for the lovely mug rugs!! This is a very talented group of people, and I so love that you all let me hang out

Heather, those are Carolina Lily blocks but without the stem. Glad you liked them. Y seams are not nearly so bad if you remember the 1/4" rule and try Gyleen Fitzgerald's "butterfly" technique. It's so wonderful to see all the mug rugs from everyone...makes me want to go make something !!

I have not tried Y seams since I first started, when I was doing everything by hand. On that block I ended up making the piece that needed the Y seams and then appliqued it to the background instead.
I think I could probably manage it now, if I tried, but I have thus far instead managed to come up with ways to sew things that mean I do not have to deal with them. I think I have Post-Traumatic Y-Seam Disorder, LOL!

Some day I will get to making you one, but life is a bit crazy here too, so I must do other things firstNot procrastinated.....had to set aside until life was less crazy. Quite legitimate, and I know the same is true for you.
It will be quite the treat, whenever it arrives
