Limbania, I am glad you are seeing some breakthrough with your treatment. You sound so happy and positive, maybe that is because your DH is home.  Happy anniversary, what a terrific thoughtful present, it looks beautiful and very intricate. Your DH is definitely a keeper.
Lottie, you have received some good advice here on how to treat your leg cramps. I hope something works for you, as cramps are not a nice thing to have.
Rita - Awww!!! I thought you were showing off your house so we could all come over and stay with you

Limbania, happy anniversary. The present you got is beautiful. Sends out love.
I'm so glad to hear the good results from your treatments.
Lotti, I know cramps are often caused if you are low on magnesium. Hope you'll get over it soon.

Thanks everyone, stopped at pharmacy this morning... Taking Arnica, 'schuessler' salt Nr 6, extra heavy doses of magnesium... and a cream to rub in... the whole treatment... Can move my leg a bit better already, hope it keeps improving, want to take our Indian visitor to the Chillon castle tomorrow and its a 2 1/2 - 3 hr drive each way... Hope it's workable as the weather should be better in Montreux than in central Switzerland, and it's a really good castle to visit at any time of the year.
And as promised, a first picture of my dads quilt... Took a quick pic, was before washing, so still rather rumpled, and my holders didn't really know what they were doing... But you get the idea...

Happy Anniversary Limbania, your present is beautiful, and delighted that things are looking positive for your blood.
Been making vast quantities of butter icing (yumops: ) for birthday cake and for 'cake crumb truffles' cannot remember what the proper name is for them, but basically I mixed together 50/50 stale(ish) cake crumbs with chocolate butter icing and we will be rolling them into balls, cover with chocolate sprinkles and then put them on lolly sticks for my version of cake pops. The dust in the lounge didn't know what hit it this morning, and the piles of books, comics and all sorts of other bumf all got cleared yesterday - who knows when I will be able to find anything after this   Still the sun is shining, it is supposed to hang around for tomorrow to (fingers crossed) which will be good 'cos then I can chuck them outside to play by themselves for part of the time 8) I will try & remember to use my camera tomorrow.

Thank you all for your comments. As expected, we had a quiet day but, it was so good to just be together!
So glad to see you back Maureen.
Lotti, that is a fantastic quilt you made for your Dad. Love it all, design, color, backing, really 8) . He'll get lots of love and comfort wrapped in it.
Sounds like you've been and will still be busy Rosemary. Izzy is a lucky girl having a wonderful mom! Yes please, make sure you have photos to share with us.
Marilyn! May you enjoy many more healthy, blessed, full of stitches and beautiful quilts, birthdays!!! (Kinda confusing but, you know what I mean)

Thanks for the kudos, ladies. I must say I'm quite pleased with the result, especially as I took just about every shortcut possible. Since speed was of the essence and I had wanted something that is soft, warm and cool, easily washable, quick to dry and fits into my parents' lounge:
I made it in panels, each of the backing fabrics is one panel, all piecing was directly onto this and quilt as you go.
Most of necessary quilting was done to the individual panels, just leaving the outer border I quilted, partially sewed, so that I could sew them together easily without requiring an additional fabric strip.
Not a single thread was buried  instead, I did a little backup-sewing to tie the threads at the beginning and end every time  and it SHOWS
My parents house is all natural wood, most of the furniture is wood, sofas are off-white, carpets cream, and everything very light and 'natural', so the colors are perfect, and the modern, geometric, come what may pattern is also quite fitting... I came across the fabric at a quilt shop in Switzerland early in the year and bought it with my parents' in mind. It's not printed but the patterns are woven ( for my mom who used to weave her own curtains), I bought everything they had in the store, and am so glad I did, have a little of the dark and cream fabrics left, everything is used up... ( that's why the different colored panels on the back, had wanted to make the back all blue - but not enough of it - it's of the same woven fabric, and there are the same blue threads in some of the fabrics).
I love the feel of this fabric, it feels and looks a lot like linen - and my moms quilt is going to be all linen, when I eventually get to it - I've been collecting all 'natural' colored linens I've come across for the last two years...
So now you're all up to date... I'm off to watch doctor who, and then an early nightLotti, Kuessnacht - Switzerland
