Jan, after I took the papers off, I pressed each triangle and then measured them. Some were a tad to small, so I had to rip and resew them. A few were too large, and they were trimmed. I didn't mind doing this at all... I loved touching and fussing over each triangle I received from our sisters!

A few of the HST's I received were just too small to use. A few were oversize, and I trimmed them. The rest seemed to fit together all right; small size discrepancies ended up in the seam allowances and/or being pressed into submission. I did carefully pin and glue-baste the seam intersections to ensure matching.

Jan, I noticed size discrepancies too. I did trim many of them, some of them were just too small to use so i put them aside. On Margo's tutorial about making pinwheels with HST's I saw her line up the OUTSIDE edges of the HST and sew the seam, letting the smaller seam allowance fall where the seam was sewn. If the larger one is the right size, then this was like a template for the smaller one. It worked very well for me. I didn't re-sew any of the HST's since I had around 650 of them!
It was very nice working with all the blocks made by our sisters and brothers in cloth. that quilt is a treasure to me.

Some of it was fudging the seams and sometimes it was easing the sizes together - heck I even had to do that with my flying geese and I have no one else to blame but me for the irregular sizes  . What I will say is it is much easier to work with starched fabric, when they are this size!
I do think that perhaps I ought to treat myself a new 6"x12" ruler though, most of the ink lines have worn off the back
I am currently working out my quilting designs and although I thought I would aim for Welsh style, the quilt wants North Country/Durham style - and what the quilt wants the quilt gets

I'll help baste yours, if you'll help baste mine! 8) - there wasn't any plans for sleeping when you come up, was there?Originally posted by Lorna1021Rosemary,
Your HST quilt is wonderful. I really, really really need to get busy and finish the border on mine so I can start the quilting process. Which means I really need to clean up all of the little stacks of reel blocks on the floor of my sewing room.
