Really didn't like the birds so I decided to make some butterflies to applique to my quilt top

Love it! Butterflies were a favorite of my mothers.

How did you make your butterflies? I love butterflies and bees, and would rather do that than birds. TIA for the help.

Landa: I used frrestanding applique patterns from OESD in the Luminous Freestanding Butterfly collection. They were done on my embroidery machine. I really like how they turned out - I just used batik fabric & not organza as the pattern called for

I’ve completed my quilt top for My Flower Garden, machine pieced, hand appliqué and embellishment. After quilting, I’ll add beads to look like water drops. Thanks Dee!

I finished my quilt top! I was hoping we would get some ideas for the quilting, I have no idea what to do with this. Anyone have any suggestions?

Peggy P, Your quilt turned out great. If it was me, I would stitch in the ditch in the quilt blocks. I would edge stitch and echo around all the applique. Then in the big areas, I would do a background fill like one of Cindy Needham's clam shells, or clouds or just a medium size stipple. There are a lot of free motion flower fills. Check out Leah Day's website with 365 days of free motion fills.

Francis, Your sampler is my favorite one. Love the leaves. The applique is so cute and well thought out. It looks wonderful. HelenW
