Totally different color combination but I love it. I can't wait to see your applique choices.

I love the My Flower Garden quilt but I want to use what I have so I am going to use the Red and White Ohio Star blocks I made about a decade ago and red fabric leftover from my son's Mariner Compass Quilt also made about a decade ago. I have lots of fabric for the applique which is what I love about the quilt. I really don't need a new project but if not this quilt it would be another one.

I love the Ohio Star Block. It is one of my favorites. I will be unifying aspect to have them the same and will look good with all the variety of the applique. HelenW

All done with section 1 applique -except vase - my purple flower is backwards b/c I didn't understand that the shapes shown in green in the pattern need to be reversed - it doesn't really say. I'm using the Print&Piece fuse light & turning edges w/glue stick. Then machine applique with monopoly thread. Also put batting under the flower petals. This is the first time I've tried this method & it's not perfect but . . .

It looks great asis, but you could add another blue/purple petal on the left. It would make the petals an odd number (artist’s trick) and even it out visually.

Peggy, Would love to see a picture. I have used batting under applique but on top of the pieced top. I usually cut it about 1/8 inch
smaller than the applique piece. I have also put a piece of batting under the top just slight bigger than the applique piece and held it in place with a little glue. Then caught the batting as I edge stitch the applique by machine. How did you do it. HelenW

I put a piece of batting under the quilt top before I stitched down the applique & then trimmed close to the stitching. I'm only going to do it under the flowers - leaves & stems will be flat.

I bought a pattern called Enchanted Garden by Jason Yenter. I imported the blocks into EQ8 with the idea of what could I
do with it to make a My Flower Garden wall hanging. So far just playing around with ideas. HelenW

I have pinned my section 2 pieces to the quilt top and the perspective looks different - my vase & flowers look smaller than in the photo. Any thoughts?

It looks good and remember the perspective will change again when the sunflower is added to the right of it. Doing great!!!!

Thanks, Dee, for choosing this fun pattern! My blocks are finished, with some alterations. Here are 3 of my favorites: Blocks 3, 8 and 13. I wanted to fussy cut something in each block, press all seams to the center squares so that they will puff up a bit, and use as many of the fabrics in the kit as I could. I used all but 3 fabrics and added 4 of my own. Now for the big learning curve of appliqué, as I’ve really never done it before. Phyllis R. gave me some very helpful pointers!

Love what you've done with these blocks. I'm a little bit behind so for block 8, I might make some modifications just like you did. (I'm using black, grey, beige and white fabrics so it should look completely different). Also, I'm not quite as accurate as you are so that could change the look as well.

Ruth, I love this quilt too and really like your modifications and fussy cutting. I know you will do a great job on the appliqué and so glad Phyllis was able to give you some good pointers. Thanks for posting.
