Halloween costumes
Can some one tell me the name of the product used in making bags or purses? It is the stiff padding that makes the edges stand up. My GS is into Star Wars now and wants to be some "trooper" for Halloween. I thought of different ways to make his helmet, such as a plastic milk jug cut to shape, or paper mache over a bowl. This stiff batting would be so much easier for me and more comfortable for him. I thought I would sew it to my fabric and then sew it to the shape I need (rounded over the top and straight down to the shoulder). Similar to the knight helmet I made him a few years ago. I used cotton batting in that, but this needs more body. It also need a bill on the helmet that I can cut and stitch on. Just need the name of the product to purchase. Thanks!Tags: None

Hi Cathy -
There are a couple of products you could mean. Annie's Soft & Stable is like a cloth lined foam that makes bags stand up. That would make a comfortable helmet that would stand up pretty well. For the bill, you might want Timtex, which is much stiffer and is designed for hat bills and fabric bowls. Or if you want a very stiff stabilizer, DecorBond is something that I use in bags a lot, too, to give them body.

Though it has been several years, here comes the Halloween of 2018. So what ideas do you have for this big day? If you haven't chosen your costumes, you can try looking for the best Halloween costumes or fancy ideas online. Personally speaking, I would like something special rather than the common ones.
