missing the thumbnails on the quilt shows listings
I really really miss the thumbnails of the shows. I am visual and so not having them makes it hard to find the older shows I want to go back and watch. There are several shows and artists that I use for reference on how to do certain things and now I can't find them. Please bring the thumbnails back.Tags: None

There is a really great feature that will help you find lots of things! Hold your mouse over "Watch" at the top of the webpage and a drop down menu will appear. Click on "Search Shows". On that page is a list of all the shows that you can scroll through, but there is a box at the top of the list labeled "Search" where you can type in what you are looking for. If you are looking for shows about applique, type that in the box and the list will be sorted by that technique. You can also search by the guest artist, or anything you can remember about the show. When you see the show you want to watch, click on the show number on the left hand side to go see it. But before you click, look on the right side of the list - you will see the time in the show where the topic is discussed. Then when you go to the show, just advance the video to that time. Give it a try!
You can search the classrooms the same way - hold your mouse over "Learn" at the top of the web page and select "Search Classrooms".
Hope this helps.

I agree with Kayakbabe, I always worked out which shows I had watched or wanted to watch again by the thumbnail pictures, rather than the names as in 'Ah yes, that face, when she's wearing red (or whatever)' because I am not good at names at the best of times in real life let alone on the web, but I can do pictures.
Please could we have the pictures back (eventually) to assist navigation. (Ok I realise that it is at the bottom of a very long list of boo-boos and bugs, but even being on the list would be appreciated)

I also miss the thumbnail pictures related to the shows. When I see the thumbnail pictures, the whole show comes back to me. Maybe because I am a visual person.
I think both the thumbnail picture and the Search feature are great. One can't really substitute for the other - they complement each other.
Keep up the good work!

Click on the Blue Column headings and each division sorts the list, backwards and forwards. So convenient, I'm using this feature the most.
OMG there is a 2 second delay before the search box comes up, but we've learned to adjust. hmy:

I think it depends on what you are searching for.
Working many years in Accounting, I have used the "search", "sort", "filter", (ect.) functions of the various Microsoft Office and accounting software systems on a daily basis. They are all pretty similar and I am very familiar with them. I had no difficulty with the new TQS search feature. Very user friendly.
I have been a member of TQS for several years. However, I missed many shows because of working long hours. Now that I am retired, I am trying to watch the shows I missed. I used to find the shows I missed by the thumbnail pictures. Looking at the picture, I know instantly if I have watched it. I am one of those visual people who remembers faces. Trying to find the shows I missed with the Search feature didn't work for me.
This morning I discovered that the thumbnail pictures of the shows are still there! They are in Show List, below Search. You need to click on the series. For example, if you click on "Series Fifteen", the list of shows in Series 15 comes up with the pictures and description of the shows.
Thank you, TQS!
Hope this helps, Kayakbabe and Posy.

Judith, thank you so much for the tip on finding the thumbnails. I do feel that the enhanced search features are awesome, but as a "visual" person as well, the thumbnails are great for jogging the memory.
Speaking about memory joggers, I also really like having the shows that are highlighted for us when reading items in the Daily Blog. Because of those, I have been able revisit several shows I had watched years ago for refresher tips and techniques. It's really nice, because as we grow as quilters, our styles and the techniques we use change and what I may have felt was out of my league awhile ago, I'm now ready to tackle.
Thank you TQS!

Judith, thank you for helping. I really really am glad they are still there. I sure would like a little 50x50 thumbnail on the previous page though. However, I am super glad they are there somewhere even if we have to dig to find them.
Sue Henyon,
I did find the search feature the forum admin talked about. And I "get" that I can search for text. But I will bet you really big money in Vegas that it isn't faster than searching for 1 out of 25 images. Ask any psychologist and they'll tell you the human brain is way faster at shape, color and image recognition than letters and words.
I always knew somewhere in around series 7 or 8 there was a lady with a red modern looking, artsy-artsy something in the background and she did xyz and I want to do that and I Don't remember how. Being able to go to series 7 and scan for that 'image' in my mind is way faster that trying to remember a name or find the exact term that some person might have used for indexing the data on the show. And god forbid, I don't call or spell that "thing" exactly the same way the data entry person did.
Having both a text search and the thumbnails is the very best way for everyone. Text only is not as good.
People's memories are triggered most powerfully by color, shape, and imagery NOT by words. And that's a fact.
