copying oversized foundation master

Does anyone have any tips on copying an oversized paper piecing master without spending a fortune at a Kinko's? I'm going to be doing Jinny Beyer's "Shimmering Sea". The foundation master measures about 11.5 inches square. Someone once told me a draftsman's shop could make oversized copies without spending a fortune. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have a printer/scanner? Can you scan it Half at a time? Might be worth trying.

I have had some oversized copies run off at Kinko's and they weren't that much. They have the same oversize drafting copier that the engineering shops use.

If you want to make multiple copies, here is a hint that I use when making multiple copies for a paper foundation pieced project.

First you need at least one master copy of your pattern for each five or so copies. Next, I take about five or so pieces of paper and staple them to the master.

Now I take the stapled packet to the sewing machine. I remove all of the thread from both the top and bobbin. Nest, sew on all of the lines you need to transfer. (For paper piecing I also sew on the outer cut lines.) I often use just a regular stitch length to do this.

Once all the lines have been perforated, a can remove the staples. and then I remove the bottom perforated copy and can write any information I need to on the corresponding sections.

Since you need to start with a larger square of paper, you might want to look at using a pad or roll of newsprint. You can cut these larger pieces into a 12 or 13 inch square. I use a rotary cutter that is designated for cutting paper to do this.
