Label for your quilt
Margo has posted an an excellant tutorial on how to make quilt labels using your printer. Even though I have been doing this for years I have found some new tips. So will you. She used the 2009 quilt as her example. Thanks Margo, for all the help you give to so many. You are a true gem in the quilting world.
I find her pillowcase method of preparing the label before attaching to the quilt to be an especially easy way to get a good result. Sally in Walnut CreekTags: None

Thanks Sally!
I just got a note from Jenice (vernalgrandma) with another good tip!! She says:
Hey Margo thanks for the label tutorial. I always use a big zig zag stitch at the top of the freezer paper and fabric and then you can work closer to the top. I just cut the zig zag portion off.
Thanks Jenice! That's brilliant!

The zig zag suggestion is brilliant! I was trying to do six business card size labels for 6 mini comfort quilts for a dear friend. After having my cute yellow fabric shred through the printer and cause all sorts of grief, I gave up on using a colored background and switched to EQ printable in white. It worked well but looked a little dull, so after fusing each one to the top I tried a different decorative stitch with Superior Rainbow thread on my new Horizon. This looked even better than my original idea using yellow with a mini print of green and white. I had failed to prewash or Bubble Jet set the fabric, which contributed to the problem (What was I thinking? I was in a huge hurry as our friend's cancer is progressing rapidly.) If only I could have waited for your instructions and the good follow up ideas, but I won't forget for the next time I need it. Isn't it wonderful to have this forum to share. We are all better quilters because of The Quilt Show. Sally in Walnut Creek
PS Margo, congratulations on your well=deserved AQS award on your red and white quilt. Stunning!

Thanks Paula!
Here is another great tip that was left as a comment on the Daily Blog:
JACross Says:
You won't have that trouble with the wrinkling at the top of the page if you will back your fabric with full sheet labels, available at any office supply store, instead of freezer paper. It adheres extremely well and is reusable.

I agree, Pam! I'm still learning! And for what it's worth....this is not my first gig on labels!
This has been out of print for a long time, but there are some interesting options shown. Even so, using the printer is still my first choice!
