    Recycle?

I just wanted to share with you something I tried today.

Instead of using new printer paper to print out the foundations for paper piecing, I used the clean side of sheets that I had already printed on. Since we are tearing them up anyway, I didn't see the need to use a clean sheet.

I did test the ink by ironing and steaming a sheet, face down, on top of a scrap of light colored fabric to make sure that the ink didn't transfer, but so far, so good!

So....start saving anything you misprint or no longer need, and run it through the printer again and get a two-for!

Thanks Margo. I have been using the backs of leftover printed paper for my sewing. I have used the back of any scrap paper to print paper piecing pattern, embroidery template, etc.

Since the printer in my sewing room is ink jet (my only color printer) I have to be careful not to iron or press my blocks for paper piecing as the ink does transfer to my iron and it gets a bit dirty.

I have not noticed this when I remember to use my laser printer for such tasks.

I also use the back of junk faxes or other printed paper us doodle new ideas and patterns for machine quilting.

      Thanks for mentioning this.

I'm using an ink jet too, but haven't had any trouble with the black ink. I avoid the sheets with colored inks, because I know that they are not colorfast, but will definitely remember that now! Thanks!
