Thanks for the nice comments on my block Denise, Barbara & Sandy in TN. I am amazed at the way all of the blocks look. They all look like we are professionals and have been doing these for years! It is always fun to see the different fabric selections and how the colors show up.

Good luck to everyone else doing this BOM. You just need to take it slow, be accurate and follow the directions. When you start putting the sections together, you'll say WOW!

I have my fabrics cut, and I made the little practice house last night. It turned out so cute I was tempted to post IT in the show and tell. (Haha!) Maybe I'll throw it in my blog.
Starting on the star tonight. Wish me luck.
Good Luck, we can't wait to see it! Enjoy the process. It does take some time.

Denise, it looks great, I've got just four sections paper pieced so far. I also bought the fabrics at the IQF.

Lorchen, I bust out laughing at your retiring in 2017, but who's counting, right!!! I'm shooting for 2011 sometimes during that year.

Maggie, love your red/black block, can't wait to see it progress in these colors for months to come.

I worked all day today and thought I'd get it done. I am struggling way more than I thought I would. I have to scrutinize every piece, pin and flip, reposition, pin and flip again. I am good at puzzles and have never had a problem visualizing how things went together but this is challenging :? I hit a wall about supper time and had to unsew 2 pieces. Decided tomorrow is another day. I love how everyone's completed blocks look. Amazing :!: Gloria

Yes I too had to "reverse sew" a few times. Don't be discouraged, once you start putting it together, you'll be rewarded with your hard work.

It took me from 10 am till almost 7:30PM to start, finish, and take a picture of mine. I did break for lunch but other than that, I did work at it all the other time of the day. It was my treat to myself, spending the day in the sewing room - what a joyous time.

I have all the piece patterns paper pieced. I only had to {reverse sew two seams.} It took me way longer then I thought it would. I have the block laid out ready to put together. It will have to wait till tomorrow.

Today and this evening I got my fabric washed, pressed, and cut. I nicked myself with my cutter! Very first time! It could've been alot worse. It scared me more than anything! ops: Tomorrow I start the paper piecing.

I paper pieced all but 3 pieces and will be starting a new art quilt fiber group tomorrow from 9am to 2pm so will have to get some sleep. The pieces are going together quite well and I am using a black background with older eyes. Have been retired 9 years now Lol. This morning put a large pot of baked beans on so after noon could paperpiece and get ready for tomorrow's class. Weather cold but no storms. Think I will really enjoy making my first medallion quilt.

My Jan 2009 BOM is posted in Show and Tell. I don't know how I did it--I really tried to be very precise--but, it measures 15 1/4" not 15 1/2". I don't know if I will be able to make that up when I do the setting or not? MARGO---HELP!!!!

believe it or not, mine was a smidge off on one side so I pinned it to my pressing surface stretching it a bit and steamed it with my iron, left it to cool and poof, it’s fine.

I did this to a quilt that had to be 30 inches square for the Keepsake quilting challenge and it worked so I figure – why not try it again.

Ritzy, mine was wonky too when first done but I followed Margo's tutorial to block it overnight and it is now perfect--your fabrics are just so WOW--I really love it.

Hey all, I'm finally back!! I guess you could say I fell off the quilting wagon but now I am getting right back on. I guess I just let life get in the way too much the last few months. Today I cut all the peices for my feathered star and also resurrected my 2008 BOM - good thing I at least kept up with printing that one  June 2008 is well on its way, lol. Anyway I am tenatively planning 3 different versions of this quilt - one (the one I cut today) is going to be totally scrappy and straight from the stash. The second will be done to match my new bedroom - cream, green, and brown, and the third will be scrappy like the first but I am going to do all the alternate blocks for an alternative look. I'm looking forward to having a ton of fun 8)

Well, I'm having a terrible time getting started. I've been sick since New Year's day but thought I would print out everything and found my printer needed attention. So last night I tackled that and turns out it's dead it appears. I remember someone saying that they either got their printers extremely inexpensive or free but nothing showed up in the search topics. Does anyone remember this discussion or who it was who had this insight into getting a good printer deal? I loved my printer so much I'm sorry it died but it doesn't owe me a thing. But I can't do a high end one this time.
