Silly me, I saw 911kitchen and just assumed you cooked like me. :P
I must say your imagination does you well.... I enjoyed the images you conjured. I often stitch myself into quilts. I don't think anything of it, unless I'm around non-sewers. They got squeamish when they see me pulling my fingers out of the stitchings.

So incase I couldn't find my way back to it again, (which happens frequently) I downloaded it all at once. It is a nice book to say the least. I wasn't going to do it but I needed a Dr. office project. My cathedral window quilt is too heavy to take now. That and I really need to work on this hand applique business. I'm in for cheerleading - life has kinda got in the way lately, so I have not even TOUCHED my BOM since June, but yesterday I took the time to download and print all the patterns up through this month. Hopefully I can get back on track with this project.

Deb, another place to see lots of blocks: Go to Show & Tell on the purple bar, click on BOM only and you will be able to see all the blocks that have been uploaded. Margo has even more on her website. Welcome to the Bomettes.

Ok, I've picked out my background and the star. At 1st I was going to do each star differently, but decided not since I really want the flowers to be the 'stars'. LOL... I've cut out all the backgrounds and am getting ready to draw out the stars.

Wahoo! This is gunna be fun!!

Typically I have everything in batiks.... but I've been itching to do a black and brights. Years ago I purchased a solid black home spun. It will be great to work on such a soft fabric. I'm going to dig into my hand dyed fabs and really make this easy. Batiks may creep in since they are the majority of my stash, but I'm going to try keep the fabrics soft so hand quilting will be easy. All I have to worry about now is shadowing.

I also plan to do some beading and appliqueing bugs.... maybe even some bug chewed leaves. hehehee

Hi all, this is my first time here, I am finally thinking of BOM. I have everything printed off and in a nice notebook! I even bought the background fabric. Then it looked too overwhelming and I did two convergence quilts instead! I promise to start soon. Big projects tend to scare me, but with all of you to talk with, maybe this one will get finished......or at least started!

Joan... do it! Join in the FUN!

Pick your background and star fabric 1st. Choose something that will show off your work. (very light or dark works best)

While you are sewing the stars imagine what you want to do next. Leaves are easy, they are generally green. Prepare the stems and leaves.... Now ya have that ready to sew.

To pick out vase and flower colors I'm using a beautiful multicolored fabric as a focus fabric to pull my colors from. You can also use the focus fabric it in borders too. It will give the quilt the illusion that it was all designed in that colorway.

It's all just a lot of tiny steps. Don't think you have to do it all at once. THAT would be overwhelming!

Joan, start with the November block--it is really easy and then you will ready to go with the other months.

                            Joan,
I printed it all off at once too and just about dropped when the printer stopped. Then I put it ito a binder with a divider for each month. Much better when it appears to be a book with chapters. Lets face it no one in thier right mind would ever read boring novel if there were no chapters to say;" Oh thank goodness only 5 chapters to go. " Have you ever belonged to a book club or do remember high school when you had to read something that really wasn't your cup of tea. Remember rationalizing if I only read this much (ok I have a 15 year old boy who is reading Shakespear's Hamlet right now so you you know where I am coming from) :? Basically put dividers in between the months and your BOM won't seem so overwhelming. By the way I chose a very colorful batik for my back ground and I am going to down play the flowers and the basket. Like shadows. I think I am still toying with the Idea. I am trying to show my son's art teacher that Art is all in interpretation. Maybe I willl give her a block made 4 different ways to prove this.

P.S. for the record yes my sign in is 911kitchen and before I was a nurse I was a cook. My dream is to one day own a pastry cafe

[[Remember rationalizing if I only read this much ]] Rachel - I do this with quilting when I am on a deadline. I make a list of every single step I need to do to get the project finished and then put time needed to complete beside each one to make sure I can get done within the deadline. And then I check them off as I complete them. If I spent that time working I would probably finish early.
