    Looking for BOM Buddy

I just joined Nov 7, 2008. I luv to applique but I am also queen of the UFO. I really DO want to make this quilt. Anyone else just starting that is looking for support/cheerleader/BOM bud?

I didn't just start, I got through June and then sort of fell off the map for a variety of reasons. I am working on two sets of the 08 BOM's and certainly could use a buddy/friend to help me get in gear. Let me know if this half way through person could help you and in turn help me. Ann, who has enough UFO's to make a science fiction movie. LOL

Hi Deb - I am three behind on my BOM. I think you will find plenty of cheerleaders here. The first things is to just get started. Pick out your fabric and start cutting. SandyTN

Hi, Deb! This forum is a great cheerleading site! Make sure to check Margo's great tutorials on applique (gosh, I think they are on her Webshots). Each month is listed on the forum, so if you are having a problem with a specific month, there may be some information there. You can always give a shot out with a problem, and someone will come to your rescue. Welcome to the BOM squad!

Welcome, Deb! Maggie is right! This forum is exactly where you need to be! Just choose one of the related threads, or start another one, and help/support/comments will be available!
As for the UFOs....Ricky has actually given us permission to NOT finish everything! If it doesn't make your heart sing, pass it on, work on something that you really love, and concentrate on getting it done! The support here is great for that! SEW LONG!

Thank you. I have a ton of other stuff to post, but it all needs to be hauled out and photographed. If you noticed, on most of the descriptions the last thing it says is UFO... LOL Now ya see why I need a 'buddy'. I get tops done easily enough, just don't ever get them quilted. ops:

deb... who is gunna spend the weekend getting blocks all lined up to sew.

WWOOWW is right! Thanks for the head's up, Damaris! I had checked her profile, but the stuff on her website is amazing!

Deb, you are an inspiration, and I look forward to seeing what you do with the BOMs!!! Glad to have you playing with us!

                      ''''''''~~

No, I didn't make it this year. Have been to Houston's Quilt Fest many years tho. I finally joined because they (TQS) gave me an offer I couldn't refuse.

Now I just gotta get cracking on this BOM... I have a question. It may be in the 1st (Jan) pattern, but is there a place with all the fabric requirements like there is for the '09 BOM? Background is mostly what I'm wondering about. I have yardage of most of my fabs, but just need to know a total requirement for the background. Since that is gunna be what give my BOM it's own 'flavor'. Once that is decided it's off to the races! (As my Dad would say)

Ann, you stinker, you haven't got any of your blocks posted! (I wanted to peak at your colors)

After this weekend, when I've decided in a background, I'll start in on the blocks. I tend to do them in chunks so I may just start with the 1st 6 months. I use the freezer paper on top and place pieces with a clear overlay. Then machine baste the pieces on. I can then sit and stitch for hours and hours without having to get up.... Man do I sound lazy after reading that! LOL... Anyhow, I find I can get a lot done if I'm working on a bunch at once. Kinda the Henry Ford way of doing it I guess.

Once I get all my stuff lined up I'm pulling out my whip... just giving ya a warning!!

                          Dear Deb,

We are so glad that you have joined our quilting playground. Not to worry we have lots of BOM cheerleaders to boost you along.

To find the fabric requirements for the current BOM click on the BOM picture. Look at pg. 3 of the Introduction. There you will find the fabric listed for the background.

Be sure to post your blocks as you finish them. We would love to see your work.

Ok So this is the first time I realized that I had access to the BOM. Yep I am an idiot. So incase I couldn't find my way back to it again, (which happens frequently) I downloaded it all at once. It is a nice book to say the least. I wasn't going to do it but I needed a Dr. office project. My cathedral window quilt is too heavy to take now. That and I really need to work on this hand applique business. I am still donating more blood then thread. So Hopefully you BOM buddies will hear from me again. That is if I survive the self blood donating process that I keep undergoing. I can just read the headline now: Local Quilter Appliqued to Death. Could you just see the CSI's trying to figure out the blood pattern. They would be totally baffled that is unless one of them quilted.
