    2009 BOM Kits

Hey everyone - I saw the quilt first hand at festival and honestly it is over the top! I wondered how in the heck could Sue top this years quilt- but she did. Also, in Sue's perfect style, the instructions will be over the top. Regarding yardage - we will get that to you asap - and a kit will also be available VERY soon in the shoppe, again we will keep you posted. The supply is limited, so DO not delay if you want to go that route. The quilt looks really green in the photo and it is not. It is absolutely beautiful. Everyone who saw it gasped in delight!

I just want to add to what Alex posted. The 2009 BOM is wonderful! I was able to see the center in two different colorways and both were awesome. The fabric for the kit is also awesome and heavy!! Can't wait until the new year to get started!
      Happy Quilting,

As I posted on the other thread, the fabric is beautiful and the feel to it is awesome! I hemmed and hawed and then took the plunge and bought it in Houston. I"m not sorry I did because if you don't normally purchase these fabrics - as I don't then starting to collect them to make this could could be time consuming and costly.

I've always wanted a quilt that looked like this and now I will, it sure will sharpen my piecing abilities too!

Not sure if anyone can answer this or not, but it would be nice to know what you all paid for the kit, as I am thinking of getting it, but I need to know how much to save.
          thanks

Heather, I want to say that the fabric was like $210. (I could be wrong about the price as I did do a lot of shopping!) It sounds like a lot of money, but there is a lot of fabric there, almost 23 yards! The kit is awesome and some of these fabrics I would not have thought to purchase. I know that I would not have been able to get this collection of fabrics locally or even driving 2 hours to some of the larger quilt shops. I love the way this quilt turned out and these colors are perfect for my bedroom. Now, what to do with the fabric that I purchased a while back for a quilt for the bedroom?!?

Thank you Wanda, That is a lot of money, but that is also a lot of fabric as well. I really appreciate that cause now I can try to decide and figure out what I want to do.

Heather, I think this quilt will lend itself really well to being a scrappy quilt. I am waiting to see what the yardage requirements are and then will get a focus fabric (& maybe a couple to go with it). And hopefully can fill in from my stash.

Thank you, that is kind of what I am thinking as well. But it will be easier to figure out once the yardage is posted.

I need some help. Do you think this quilt would look alright done in 1930's repro fabrics done scrappy style. I don't do well when it comes to picturing what quilts may look like, so your help would be much appreciated.

Jenny, I think the repro fabric would look great scrappy. But I think that to keep it from looking too busy, you should use a neutral "solid" to help the repro fabric pop out (as in, use a white or light in those pinwheels, and your repro fabric scrappy! Hope that makes sense!)

Asked Sue Garman at Quilt Festival about this and she said she thought it would be great scrappy! I think Margo said she used scraps in hers.

Thanks Maggie and Lynn I am leaning towards using them and the idea about using a solid for the pinwheels makes sense. the repro fabrics are beautiful but they are busy, busy, busy
