Ritzy I can hardly believe you're doing 2 of those blocks each month, and still within the same month! You are amazing, and so is your block. Very fun. I can't wait to see the quilt all together! It'll be great.

Ritzy, love both of your blocks! They both exude such great energy! You can almost feel the warm sunshine that "grew" those flowers being emitted from them! (a lot of rhetoric for so early in the morning, don't you think! )

Ritzy, your blocks are sooooo pretty. I am drawn to the black background BOMs. They really stand out. I haven't started yet but am beginning to think that I will choose the black background and batiks. I want to needleturn and wonder if batiks would work. I really have got to get started on these. Can I use a mixture of batiks and cottons? Would the quilt police really notice? Judy in AZ

Judy, Judy, Judy! First of all....THERE ARE NO QUILT POLICE ALLOWED IN THE BOM SQUAD!!

Second of all, batiks are WONDERFUL for needleturn applique, and they mix beautifully with other cottons!

Can't wait to see your blocks!

            SEW LONG!

Judy, I've used everything in my stash, batiks, cottons, and they all work. I'm sure your blocks will be beautiful.

Judy, Looks great on so many different levels. Love the vase fabric! Are those yo-yo's, or just fussy cut, for the larger berries? And what about those teeny berries? Oh the questions this inquiring mind has so early in the morning!

Central Illinois, who is back tracking a little bit today and doing the June block (tulips) to use as the center of the shop hop quilt I'm making that is using "Tulip Time" fabric from the Heaven Can Wait series from Northcott. (do you think I could have made a longer sentence?)

For my tiny berries I used a floral fabric with a yellow and black center needle turned. The same floral fabric had gold flowers, I used those for the larger berries needle turned. I drew a circle around the design and then cut a scant 1/4 inch. All my circles aren't perfectly round, but I enjoy this process more than the one using starch, template and iron.

Just want to let ya'll know that I DID in fact get July block done in July!! I've been done since last Sunday but only just got it on the camera & computer... Good thing I had lots of extra time on this one b/c it sure needed it! My tiny berries are far from round, but they're there & that's that! Wish I had time to catch up & see all the rest that have been posted, maybe August will be good for that!
Still w/you in spirit even when I'm off the board for days at a time,
