    Block 4

    When sewing step 1, the rows together, mine only measure 4 and1/4 inches not the 4 1/2, what did i do wrong?

    Three things: cutting, sewing and/or pressing. If strips are cut 1.5” then it is probably seam allowance that is too wide. Check pressing is completely flat.

    Be sure to let the starch dry completely before pressing.
    You might also try starching a hunk of fabric before cutting the strips.

      What is the key to starching larger pieces and having it dry square? Mine seem to dry more bunched up at the selvage.
