This post is about the top. The completed quilt is in a new post.

I skipped the applique and used water soluble sheets from Sulky for the embroidery. I printed the wildflower line drawings on the sheets, placed the sheets (they have a sticky back) on the squares and then embroidered on top. After embroidering, the sheets wash away. My quilt back is a UFO from my sister with some added blocks to make it the size of the quilt.

Finished quilting yesterday! This was my first time to use spray baste. I sprayed each layer outside and then assembled it on my design wall. I quilted it on my domestic machine. I changed thread colors often. I quilted leaf veins on all the petal pieces but kept all the other motifs simple using mostly swirls and leaves. The binding is a faux binding brought over from the back (which is scrappy as well). I just trimmed the back to 1" larger than the front and then folded half an inch twice towards the front (to end up with a scant half inch binding). Thank you Barbara, for all your wonderful blog information and video posts. Thank you also to Helen W and other forum participants for your kind encouragement.
