Well I had to play hooky from work today, but I managed to finish up Month 5 (shhhh don't tell!). A big thank you to Helen who with her encouraging mock up helped me make some decisions. Did anybody else realize that there were 32 leaves to hand applique? I didn't realize that till about May 29th!! My blog post for tomorrow is a rant of the trials of the month. Oh and yes, my points are all going to match nicely...thankyouverymuch!Nina-Marie

Here is my month 5 finally finished. I thought it would be an easy month! I struggled with deciding what colours, what fabric, then I needed the points to match. Lots of reverse sewing. Then I made the appliqué flowers. Started with making lots of leaves of a different colours only to realize it would not fit with the overall project. (They will fit on a different project, no worries) I also had to do quality control in making sure the stems matched exactly in the middle of the small triangle. All in all, a good lesson for me this month.
As an aside I am also working on Garden PartyDown Under, I have yet to complete the last triangle border of month 2, and that project has been lagging and it certainly won’t be completed with the same timeline as this BOM.
(picture for the whole project will be added with completion of the corner star for Month 6)

Linda M, For my cat and dog I just googled cat and dog silhouette images. There were tons. You can get about any breed forOriginally posted by nanlyn View PostHelen, your work is beautiful. I did some appliqué using flannel years ago. It was very challenging. Yours is turning out to be beautiful. I wonder if you would mind sharing where you got the pattern for your cat and dog? I would like to steal the idea from you if you don't mind. I am making this quilt for my daughter who has 2 black cats and a big black dog! Thank you and can't wait to see what you come up with next. I love love love Aunt Minnie's Best border you used. Really nice.
dogs and about any posture pose you want. And I too love Lori Smith's border Aunt Minnie's Best. It has that folk art look
I was going for with the flannel. For edge stitching the flannel, I do a really small zig zag, and then cover it with Ricky Tims's
technique for Twisted Chain Stitch using 6 strand DMC floss or #8 Pearl Cotton. It is a slow process, but I love the look.
