Center house block
I tried the center house block 3 times. I tried using the directions which I found confusing. Had they said what I was cutting a 1" X 1 1/2" or a 1" X 1" for I may have figured it out. I also tried applique with raw edge and that was a disaster. I would have loved foundation piecing but I got lost along the way. Finally I found a gorgeous fabric with a swirly design, cut it into 4 quarter inch squares and made that my middle. I knew if I kept trying the other way I would just throw the whole thing out. Now I am happy with the center and looking forward to the next month.Tags: None

Hi Trudy! I thought the directions weren't quite clear either. I ended up going into the forum and looking at a paper-pieced draft someone posted to figure out which squares go where. Also, when it said - applique - I thought - wow I guess we're to choose any way we want to applique. Since she included hand applique items in the supplies I did it that way. I mean really, you could have made the bias stems like directed and used a small machine applique stitch or zig zag stitch to get them attached. I did use the Baste-it glue for the first time (although that's been in my notions cabinet forever) and found it super handy. The smell is so "gluey" lol! I'm so impressed you didn't give up! Can't wait to see it!Nina-Marie

My monthly blog with important tips and information showed how to paper piece the cabin. Look at it each month before beginning.
