[[email protected];n892905]I was going to try Peg's method for making the dresden plate -- she provided a step by step instruction -- now that I'm ready to start I can't find it on the forum. I see her post but not the complete directions -- please help!
Jennifer, here is Peg’s post that I think you are looking for:

I found it in Dresden Plate and Circle Sizes, March 3, 2022

Found it -- thankyou! I had fun trying something new. Finished one Dresden Plate now I'm wondering if the 12 fabrics chosen on the plate need to blend with the rest of the block or should I just go with the scrappy look. Spending time choosing colors can really delay actually sewing a project. Appreciate other thoughts on this. I'm a fairly new quilter and have so far stuck with completing projects where the fabric and pattern was part of a kit -- it takes courage to go out there on my own

As this is a very scrappy quilt, don’t worry about planning the Dresdens, just make them scrappy. There are 6 total pieced blocks with a Dresden Plate in the center of each. You can get those made now and be a bit ahead for months 6,7,8, and 9.

As for learning how to select fabrics for a quilt, look at the photos on the Forum and ask yourself what you like about those you really like. The colors, the prints, big prints, little prints, what really appeals to you. Then you have a plan for selecting fabrics for the next blocks. It takes time to develop a good sense of color, whatever works for you.

I am way behind and just started block 3. I have made the 4 patch squares and they measure at almost 4 inches. Do I really trim them to 3.25?

The instructions are correct. The 4 patch is oversized, then trimmed to 3.25” so the outer triangles can be added to make a 4” finished 4 patch on point, 4.5” including seam allowances.

I am just starting Month 3. I do not like to use glue in my work, and am wondering if you know of instructions for EPP without glue. I have seen some Youtube videos with larger pieces and see how the fabric is sewn on the papers. Do you know of any source for small pieces that use needle and thread to attach the paper pieces together? Thank you.

Whenever you want quilt info start right here, at The Quilt Show. Use the Search feature at the top of any page. I typed English Paper Piecing and lots came up. Show 1302 featuring Mickey Depre shows how she thread bastes fabric to paper and how she stitches shapes together:

                https://thequiltshow.com/watch/engli...h-mickey-depre

Another method is by Bonnie Hunter--she does not sew through the paper as she thread bastes, she just tacks at the corners. You can find her Hexagon Tutorial on her blog, under Tips and Tricks.
