The extra border is due to a cutting error but I like it and may repeat. I used a chain stitch in #12 pearl cotton instead of 1/8” bias. Enjoying the project.

Enjoyed everyone’s pictures. The center is getting bigger! I love the balance of all the objects. Look forward to smaller blocks but more details.

I used the Karen Buckley leave templates and made them all ahead of time. Lot’s of leaves -lol. I am loving the needle turn appliqué and feel the work is justified.

Thanks to you all and Barbara for all the tips!

I am close to finishing my quilting on last years quilt. Will post on that forum link. So fun to quilt!

Having a lot of fun using Tula Pink fabrics and other brightly-colored fabrics from my stash on a dark cranberry red background. Hand appliqued and mostly back-basted. Looking forward to BOM3.

Thanks. A very finely woven fabric from Art Gallery Fabrics really helped with the 1/8" stems!

Ta-da! Month 2 is hot off the press! For appliqué, I used the starch method and hand stitched the pieces down. For the leaf stems, I embroidered with a stem stitch. For the borders, I used Barbara’s directions (thank you Barbara!) to draw out the triangles on a full length of paper to paper piece.

My African Garden party is 4 leaves from the finish! ( I followed Irenes photo rather than the pattern as it was missing the leaves on the stems coming out of the basket.) Happy with the details and color ( the phots are not as vibrant as it is in person.)

Shannon, The fabrics are perfect to add a lot of personality to your quilt. When I clicked on the pictures it enlarges and lets you
zoom the photo. And yes the fabric colors are way more vibrant in the enlargement. Also like the texture in the white background
fabric and your blanket stitch hand embroidery on the leaves. Great job of both selections and technique. HelenW

Monique, Did you know that Irene Blanck also designed a brown appliqué quilt. I just saw it and thought of you.
Luckily she did not put a hundreds of small circles in Garden Party. I can't do any more on mine until I get my machine
back from the shop for its yearly maintenance . HelenW
