Progress so far. I have decided to prepare my applique pieces using Print & Piece Fuse Lite and then applique by hand. So far, it is working quite well. I'm finding the prep time isn't that much different than needle turn and it is more portable. My only concern is how well the Fuse Lite will wash out once the quilt is completed, but I'm taking Barbara's word for it - that most of it will wash out.Bonnie Goodrich

Bonnie, Your block is coming along great. I really like the background with the circles that are little cross stitches. Are you getting
a lot of snow in Montana? This storm today is really hitting us hard in North Idaho. Lots of snow to move when it lets up snowing.

This is my first ever BOM as well as appliqué. I am amazed at the level of instruction and support that is being offered. Thank you Barbara!
I know I will do machine appliqué but am undecided between raw edge and turned. I’d love to hear pros and cons of each. I’m thinking the machine edge is quicker due to less prep work which is appealing to me. It seems like there’s greater potential for fraying with raw edge but then I guess this isn’t the type of quilt that would get heavy use and be washed often.
I appreciate any words of wisdom/opinion. I did watch Sue Nickels video but there wasn’t a lot of info. Again, I am excited for this personal challenge and grateful for the depth of teaching and info. Thanks, Candy

Candy, It is a good idea to try a small sample of each. Maybe make a flower with a stem and a leaf. Try one with raw edge and one with turned edge. I like using both in certain situations. So far I used raw edge on the center block and turned edge on the dog tooth border. If I was following the pattern I probably would have used the folded edge, but I went with a different center that has
a lot of really small pieces, and in that case the raw edge is much easier. Like you already mentioned. If this is going to be a bed
quilt that gets a lot of use. Or if you have pets that like to curl up on your quilts, the turned edge would be better in being washed and thrown in the dryer. I do have quilts I have washed with both types and have not run into any problems yet. Here is a picture of
the raw edge center and the dog tooth tuned edge. HelenWHelenW
