I helped students yesterday pull fabrics for their Garden Party. Here is Leila's. She will use a bright white for background. Her Focus Fabric is the light green bold Kaffe Fasset print in the upper left.Barbara Black
I can’t wait to receive my kit. I don’t use kits very often, but I love the Australian look and don’t have fabric to duplicate that look in my stash. Is there enough fabric in the kit to prewash?
Yes, there is enough to pre wash
The kits are selling fast! A great way to get that look.Barbara Black
Should we wash the fabric in the kits? Will that make it easier to work the appliques? Little concerned about the smaller pieces.
The Fabric Requirements document says to pre-wash. I did. To cut down on raveling I snip a small piece off of all four corners at a 45 degree angle. This also lets me know that fabric has been washed. I separate light and dark fabrics and put a Color Catcher in the wash. There was almost no color loss in either load.
Barbara will we be able to buy the pattern for the 2022 BOM and use our own fabrics?
If so, when will the patterns be available? Thanks for your help.
No, you can’t buy the pattern. It is FREE to Star Members in 2022. On the first of each month, one segment of the quilt pattern will be released. You can certainly use your own fabrics.
I have spent the last week making month 1 from the Kit fabrics as I make videos and blogs with helpful suggestions.Barbara Black

Fabric concerns:
I have 2 greens for stems of flowers and vines in the border. A medium and a light. I was thinking the light for the stems and leaves so the flowers would stand out more especially when lighter colors are used. The medium green for the vines and leaves in the inner border and I will use darker flowers there. Unless you feel that these should be reversed. I am using all fairy frost fabrics for the quilt in every color that they ever made. I have a huge collection of these and I want to use them up. Much of any design I want to incorporate will be done through hand and machine embroidery. The darker metallic fabrics I have will probably be used mostly in the vases. The lighter ones will be used as the triangle vases in the inner border and in the flowers in the cornerstones.
