I am not sure about the background fabric to use. I bought the kit and I don’t want to run short because I used the wrong fabric. I can figure out the appliqué pieces just large background that I am unsure of.

Jayne, there are 4 background fabrics in the kit that are large enough to cut the 20" background square for Month 1. Pick whichever you like. The only fabrics to SAVE UNTIL THE END are the gray/white stripe, 1 1/3 yards--that is for the outer border background--and the dark blue 5/8 yard piece--that is for the binding--mine was marked as "binding". Put those both away.

The great thing about a scrappy quilt like this is if you do run out of one of your favorites, you can always substitute something similar. No two quilts made from the Kit will be the same--each person will make their own fabric selections each month.

I find myself adding a few of my favorites in with the Kit fabrics as I make a second one of these for the demos.

There is no "wrong" fabric to use--except those two I mentioned--those were specifically chosen for the outer border and binding. No other fabrics in the Kit are "supposed" to go anywhere--you decide.

Eileen, I looked up The Applique Society and see you are the facebook director. I have a friend that lives on Whibey Island.At our house we don't do any of the major social media like facebook, instagram, pinterest. Would a membership to the Applique Society
be of much help if you don't do facebook? It is an area of quilting I would love to learn more about. HelenW
