Thank you for posting the June blocks a day early (for those of us in the US). I really enjoy shopping my stash for these blocks. Now to make 3 more sets!
Last edited by Beth B.; 05-31-2021, 06:57 PM. Reason: Fixed the number of sets remaining to complete to 3.

I may have missed it. - but I thought there was a total of 4 Tall Building 1 LS and 4 Tall Building 1 RS. So while it is 8 buildings, only 4 sets.

Oops... I only need to make 4 sets per the instructions. I’m going to. Go back and try to edit my original post so I don’t confuse any one! Thanks for catching that!

Beth, Your Tall houses look great. I am even more impressed by your little Jacqueline De Jong picture by your name. Did you make that quilt. I just love her designs. HelenW

      Hi Helen,
Yes, that is my version of JDJ’s Enchanting Stars. I used Kaffe Fassett Collective for everything except the dark background. I really enjoyed trying to translate her design (which is often done in batiks) into my KFC fabrics. It is my first JDJ, but I’m planning to try some of her other patterns. It was a challenging pattern. Probably should have picked something a little less complicated for my first JDJ, but hey, isn’t that why we do these things... to keep challenging ourselves!

for those of you who have started tall buildings are you introducing new colours or kinda keeping the same
I was thinking of making them more industrial looking, but now seems a bit dull

moonglow2017, Going industrial is a very creative idea. As much as it would be very realistic, I can
see how it might bring down the fun, bright vibe of this pattern. HelenW P.S. Moon Glow is one of my favorite Jinny Byer patterns. It does just Glow.

I was thinking about making my wool buildings the colors of the real life structures. After doing a mock-up on paper, I’ve decided to stick with the same color palette as what has already been done. This is my mock-up. I think these are too dull.

Carole B Even your mock ups are fabulous. I think you should be a quilt designer. Never to too late. You just have such good taste for making things look great. And I have never in my life been so impressed by a beginner jumping off the high dive into the deep end and getting a perfect 10. You are a Rock Star. HelenW

Happy to start stitching my city buildings! This will be one of the Tall Building 1's. I plan to work in sections to include a corner building, 3 large buildings and a house in the city. Yes, I like to color outside the lines!

Roost is a restaurant within walking distance of our home that is like our 'Cheers' -- and they do know our names!

Having so much fun with this project and learning from this amazing community!

Libbi, Your RS houses look like your roof shadows have a perfect match at the seamline. Do you have any tips for the rest of us? Thanks.

Libbi, Love your tall buildings. I bought Round the Garden pattern when we started this BOM just because it is so great looking.
Won't be starting it until next winter. I would love to see a picture of what you have done so far if you could just post it up here with your tall buildings. HelenW

A couple more to go. I had a similar issue to bpaluzzi on the RS buildings - getting the roof shadows to match up. From a distance it probably won't be noticeable, but I'm paying more attention to my 1/4" seams. Thanks for the tip, Barbara.

Libbi, Thanks for the picture of Round The Garden. I am sure that other will appreciate it as much as I do. Love the fun little
scenes with rabbits, birds and the applique squares and shapes that are normally pieced. It always gets the creative ideas flowing
when you see the colors you use and other little things to make it your own. HelenW

Deb G, Just an idea. Maybe tack the shadow in perfect position first. Use about 5 big basting stitches to match points. Then stitch normal and see if it works. HelenW
