    Hi Barbara, Is there a good explanation as to why the roof is constructed differently on the TB1 Left Side and TB1 RS? I'm just starting the four TB1 LS but plan to tape the two roof sections together when I get to the four RS buildings.

      The angles on the two upper parts are different from each other. It looks like the RS cannot be taped together and still work. That is how the designer drew them.

        Hi: Im not sure if this is the correct spot to post. I am not good at this forum;
        Im thinking to not doing the tall buildings but ending the quilt with background and squares to make the quilt square. Has anyone else done this? Is it recommended?

          This is a good place for this question, Mary. No one has done what you suggest yet, but I mentioned it in the LIVE broadcast June 4. Once you start the Tall Buildings, there is really no place to start. If your center is large enough, you can easily applique it to a background and call it done. Or applique it to background, add an additional border, and call it done. Whatever you choose to do will be fine. I just wouldn't make the background really large--the circle will be the focal point.

            Mary, I am doing a 60 percent size flannel version using applique on a large square of black kona cotton. I agree with Barbara Black that the easiest way to make it a square would be to applique your circle to a large square and then cut away from the back
            side to reduce bulk. I plan to add an applique border with blocks. Not sure if this is what you are talking about but here is a picture of mine so far. HelenW

                  I had the same problem; the roof piece is too small to match the seam line with the house. I guess I'll undo the roof and redo it so it is a little wider and the shadow and roof line up. At least it is only four of them!

                    Solved my problem by resewing top piece by skooching the roof to fit the seamline. Don't have this problem with right side shadow pieces so I really don't understand why the left side is different.

                      In the tall buildings template the bottom of tall building right side is curved, however in the TBLS the bottom is cut straight. Shouldn’t there be a slight curve on both sides?

                        Yes, both bottom edges should have a slight curve. Use the RS to shape the LS. These patterns are hand drawn so may not be exactly the same. It all fits together, no problem.

                      Hi, What have I missed here? The freezer paper templates match perfectly, the 1 inch square matches, and the rest of the house all works. I haven't attached the long shadow yet, but need to fix the dodgy roof first! Thanks, Susan.

                        Susan, the top section of TB #1 RS measures 4.25" along the top line of the shadow, including seam allowances. Check seam allowances on those two sections. The right side matches nicely. Both my patterns for this top section align perfectly.
                        The pattern piece for the long Shadow that is sewn to the bottom section is the size it should be, close to 6.75". If your bottom section is longer than that, I will guess your seam allowances when joining the four lower sections are slightly off.

                        Hi Barbara - got to the bottom of it - I was trying to be a good girl and use the 1/4 inch setting on the sewing machine, but I remade it with my own 1/4 setting I use in my head and it all worked. The rest of the buildings were too tall too because of this, but that was easily remedied. Can't add a photo here, but all is good. Thank you. Susan

                      Just starting Tall Building # 1. My question is about the top background sections L & J. I have enough scrapes for the small background pieces I,F. i Is there a strip width we should cut out of the background for the top section for each Tall Building to maximize our back ground fabric. Art Theory 101 for all the tall buildings?

                        The largest background needed is for Tall Building #4, where a strip at least 7.5" is needed--that is much wider than needed for #1. Just work each month to see the sizes needed. Be sure to cut the pieces with fabric doubled, wrong sides together, to get the mirror image pieces needed.
                        The instructions for cutting the outer borders is to cut 7 strips 5" wide--essentially one yard of fabric. Knowing that. you can reassure yourself you have enough background for the borders, four little houses in the city and four Skycrapers.

                        Barbara, I am getting ready to sew tall buildings together and noticed all of my #1 buildings are 3/8” long. 2,3 and 4 line up perfectly. I reprinted pattern again checking scale and pattern is fine. I measured each unit against the pattern and that also seems correct. I don’t remember having issues with the shadow length. Will it throw anything out of whack if I just make make each seem a bit larger?

                          Not sure I understand the question. Is the shadow short? If so, just lengthen it.
