    Storage of completed circle of houses and quilt as it forms a circle

    Any ideas for storage of our project going forward now that the small houses are sewn together and next month we will have a completed circle that needs to be stored. Would like it to come off my design wall so that I can work on other projects in between months. Worried about folding it or draping it over something because of the biased edged and distortion that can arise before adding the next round. Any suggestions out there?

    I basted around each of my houses before sewing them together to minimize distortion. It has really helped to keep sections from stretching out.

      Arlene G raises an important point about storing the circle center for more than six months. Mine lived on the design wall but the entire top was made in 5 weeks. You do want to avoid lots of handling. A design wall or flat under a bed—if you don’t have to worry about animals—are good choices.

        This is a very good point.... I think that I will complete the roads, which will hold everything together, and then store it on the guest bed. I'm lucky that I have a guest room with a spare bed, so I can lay it our flat. another option would be to cover your bed with a sheet, tablecloth, blanket, or another quilt, then place the finished circle onto the sheet/tablecloth/blanket/quilt, then roll it all up so that there aren't any creases, then store that under the bed as Barbara suggested.

ID:	884290 Student Paula came up with this solution. Her quilt is made from silks/brocades etc., all stabilized with interfacing so it is pretty heavy.
