Jmlcb If your mariners compass is an inch in diameter short, are your houses also going to be short??? If your printer is just giving you a smaller version, it might all work out. If it is a quirk and your houses are the correct size, you could use something like Cindy Needhams circle template to make the road the size you need. You really start having a lot of mental work when messing with circles that are divided into 32 sections. I am doing a 60 percent size and I made my circle for the road one whole circle ring. You couldOriginally posted by jmlcb View Postmy mariners compass finished at 13 1/2. if i continue with this one can I adjust road to make up the difference?
do something like that too. It might be easier to do a turned edge using the Rosa Rojas appliqick technique. Then you would just applique it to the top of the compass and the houses. You have to be ready for a lot of trial and error if you go that way. You should
measure your compass paper and see if it measures 7 1/4 which would be the radius. The diameter is supposed to be 14 1/2.

I doubt it would be easy to adjust the road but give it a try. The roads are made in small sections so if one additional section does the trick, that would be easy. No way to know until you do it.Originally posted by jmlcb View Postmy mariners compass finished at 13 1/2. if i continue with this one can I adjust road to make up the difference?
Do you know why your compass is an 1” too small?

I realize I'm late to this party, but I have a question about my compass... I LOVE my colors, but my points will be cut off when i attach my road :-(. Also, my compass now measures 14 3/4" diameter. My pattern printed correctly. Any suggestions before I do it over?
Thanks for any help anyone out there can provide! I thought I was being so careful when I put it together.

If the pattern printed correctly the problem is seam allowances—a little too large. The compass needs to be 14.5” including seam allowances to make everything else fit properly.Originally posted by [email protected] View PostI realize I'm late to this party, but I have a question about my compass... Jutta, I agree that your seam allowances of the unit pieces are probably off. be able to see the seams. I often have problems with the one on the bottom near the feed dogs shift while I stitch the seam.
The top may be the perfect 1/4 inch but the bottom may be off. Hopefully, you stitched the unit seams with a normal stitch
length and not the tiny paper piecing length. I would see if you can take one of the seams out that is a point that will be cut off
and see if you can baste it to the correct size. Be careful not to stretch the bias seams, it will grow even bigger as it stretches.
