freezer Paper
I went shopping on the internet-- then realized I wasn't sure if it was 8.5X11 sheets you suggested. Also how many sheets do we need?
I know you said a brand but didn't seem to see anything that seemed to be like what you said.
I have never done anything like this but wanting the training!! I have my fabrics. Even my backing I hope.
So bring it on after the holidays is perfect!!Tags: None

The Quilt Show store has 8.5” x 11” Freezer Paper sheets available now:
https://store.thequiltshow.com/quilters-freezer-paper-p/cand-noti-free.htm
The quilt needs a minimum of 46 sheets. The bulk package has 75 sheets, plenty.
The brand I found at my local quilt shop last Summer is C Jenkins. It has 50 sheets.
The Store will also have the Bias Tape spools early next week. 11 yard spools so you need two, the quilt will use 15-16 yards.

You are welcome to try. I don't do Quilt As You Go, though I did two years ago so understand the basic concept. I don't know how you would easily join circular sections to each other AFTER quilting.

I do not have an ink jet printer, which I think is needed to print on those freezer sheets. What can I do to make the patterns or is there a version for laser printers?
Thanks for your help.
Bonnie
You can, and should, print all the patterns/instructions each month on plain copy paper first--your laser printer is fine for that.. Save in your notebook for reference. And be sure the 1" scale box on the pattern pieces is accurate. Most months there are only 1-2 pages to print on freezer paper. And you are correct--freezer paper should NOT be put through a laser printer as it prints with heat and that could make an expensive problem.
An alternative is to simply DRAW the patterns onto your freezer paper sheets--it's all straight lines and mostly simple shapes/designs. That would take longer but it certainly works. I would use a pencil first, then draw over the pencil line again with an Fine point Sharpie so you can clearly see the lines.
Let quilty friends know you are looking for a Block of the Month buddy--you will be surprised that others may want to join in.
You can post here the area of the world you live in--someone might be nearby that you haven't met yet.

You want the printing to end up on the freezer paper paper side, not on the sheet you ironed it to. My HP ink paper sucks the paper into the printer, it goes around a drum and comes out in the paper tray. So I have to put the shiny side up in the tray to get it to print on the paper side. If you are not sure how yours decided which side it prints on, put an X on one side of the paper. Remember if the X in facing up in the tray or facing down so you don't see it when you put it in the tray. That will show you which side it prints on. HelenW

Thanks for all the responses, that video gives me hope it might be possible with my laser printer. But drawing it might also be simple enough since it's straight lines. I have too much invested in fabric and bias tape to turn back now. I'll wait and see when the 1st pattern comes out.
But I also liked Barbara's suggestion of seeing if anyone else near me might be participating. I live in Oceanside, CA and wondered if anyone else is in this area with or without an inkjet. Just curious.

Both techniques will give the same results. You can print the regular foundation paper in your laser printer. HelenW

Hi Helen!
Yes, I have done a lot of paper piecing. I have never done the freezer paper method though, but think it might be a method I read about it in Judy Mathieson's book on Mariner's Compasses. The advantages of freezer paper are reusing the same pattern & not having to remove all the paper. I'm sure I will find a way to complete it.
