The first time I used freezer paper for a quilting project was after watching an episode of the quilt show. I watched the show at lunch at work. I got excited about the project and wanted to try it. On the way home I replayed the episode - just listening not watching! When I got home I pulled out the freezer paper in my kitchen cabinet and as I rewatched the show a third time I started working. As I pressed the paper to the fabric it wouldn’t stick. I tore off some more. Still didn’t stick. I was so frustrated I threw out the roll and figured I would buy a new roll the next day. When I went to the store the next day I realized the problem. I had pulled the roll of parchment paper instead of freezer paper and was too tired to notice my error that night. Lesson learned! Lol

The package I have is Industrial. It feels like plain freezer paper to me, it is not like card stock.Originally posted by "b161rlm" post=152321Amazon has two types of C. Jenkins Freezer paper Sheets - Original and Industrial. Barbara, do you recommend one over the other? Thanks!

I have 2 boxes of freezer paper and was wondering if I could use it and cut it to size of paper to print on. I was thinking of doubling the paper before cutting. Do you think this would work as I really hate to buy more stuff when I already have freezer paper. I also want to thank you for the excellent job you do at explaining things. Thank you in advance for your response.

You certainly can use rolled freezer paper. Cut it 8:5” x11” and lightly press it to a sheet of copy paper with a dry iron. You should be able to print on it with an inkjet printer. If it works well for you, cut several sheets and place them under several heavy books, that will help flatten them. You would only need to press the top inch or so to copy paper, once it’s flat. That preserves the wax on the pattern itself.Originally posted by "BDumler2" post=152386I have 2 boxes of freezer paper and was wondering if I could use it and cut it to size of paper to print on. I have run regular freezer paper through my printer - it sure is worth a try!Originally posted by "BDumler2" post=152386I have 2 boxes of freezer paper and was wondering if I could use it and cut it to size of paper to print on. Oaklaurel, Why not make a sample block and see for yourself? If you love paper piecing you probably will like it. If you are familiar with Jacqueline DeJonge's fabulous patterns,Originally posted by "Oaklaurel" post=152751Hi! I already love paper piecing and do a lot of it. I’m not sure I will like freezer paper method. Are you sure that using either will give the same results?
Just checking...
Sandi “Oaklaurel”
I know she uses freezer paper in a lot of them. There will be a bit of a learning curve, and the one thing I would miss is still having the paper on when connecting wedges.
I like sticking the placement pins in the sewing line on the paper and seeing that it is on the sewing line on the underneath piece, guaranteeing I will have 360 degrees in the end
of the house circle and not 357 or 364. Accuracy counts if you want it to lay flat!!! HelenWHelenW
