Thanks HelenW - well, as for applique, I just got the Apliquik rods, so, as I don't have a ton of applique experience and have tried various methods, I'm thinking freezer paper needle-turn for the layered and using the appliquik with the fusible paper inside for the less layered ones, maybe my needle-turn will get faster? - that's the plan at least!

I did find some pieced neutral fabric that had a different plan - no longer relevant, so I made some of the applique backgrounds from that, 23 of them, and decided I really like that, so went ahead and am piecing the other 17 applique block backgrounds.

I suppose I could take a break and make some shoo fly blocks .

Linda, I bought the appliqué rods about a year ago, and thought they worked OK. It wasn't until I rewatch the Rosa Rojas show again that I realized the hand position
of your dominate hand, I am right handed, was held in an over hand position. That made all the difference in the world in making the edges turn smoothly. If you are
using the fusible paper inside the applique, try a sample and wash it out to see if you like the final look. I found my sample just did not look that great. It looked great
before washing but was stiff, so I decided to go with raw edge fusible instead. Using Print and Fuse which is really light weight in texture and not stiff like Steam a Seam can
be I have been happy with the way it looks. Try doing some Shoo Fly blocks they are addictive. If you run into problems just put it up in the forum, lots of ways to
troubleshoot those little things that tend to drive us nuts. HelenW

Linda this is my first TQS BOM as well. I have been a member since the early years of the show but just haven't been able to participate before. I am hoping I can keep up. I am a fellow Canadian from Alberta.

I am just catching up after a very hectic January. I thought I should introduce myself. My name is Beth Palluzi. I live in central New Jersey though I grew up in New York City. I’ve sewn since I was 14 but had let it go while I worked. I’m retired now and started sewing again. I started with sewing garments but found quilting a couple of years ago and got hooked. I can piece well but I’m new to appliqué. I loved this quilt when I saw it and thought it would really help me develop my skills. I have being doing a BOM at my quilt shop. We only do 1 block each month so I’m hoping I can keep up with both. I’m looking forward to working this quilt with everyone. It is so helpful to see everyone’s blocks and read the different ways that the blocks were done.

Laura from Massachusetts. I saw Sue Gamin's original Afternoon Delight on display at the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell, MA last fall. I was excited to hear that it would be our BOM this year.
