BOM 2014 - A-Z for Ewe and Me
Hello, Fellow BOMer's! This morning I have submitted to my Profile, the Gallery and Show and Tell photos of my version of Janet's BOM. Here is an introduction that she wrote: INTRODUCTION BY JANET STONE:
At the beginning of this whole BOM madness that is A to Z for Ewe and Me, my friend, Doris Morelock Hendrickson, somewhat reluctantly volunteered to be my "stunt sewer" and make the BOM quilt along with me, to test out how feasible my pattern writing skills are.
She's an award winning quilter, who's main love in quilting is hand applique, which she can knock out beautifully. My friend, Margo Clabo also started out being a volunteer "stunt sewer", but unfortunately had a major bump in the road which delayed her participation. Margo had a beautiful color scheme picked out and I'm sure will be able to participate along with the rest of you quilters this year! Doris agreed to test out my pattern writing skills only if she could hand applique the letter shapes and other applique designs. Of course, that was no problem with me, as I was sure other folks also prefer to do applique methods by hand instead of machine, and I was curious to see the difference. I also gave her the freedom to add her own touches here and there which she did very successfully. (She even gave it a new name.) I knew her quilt would be wonderful, because I loved her color choices from the beginning. When our friend, and fabulous longarm quilter, Theresa Ward, put her touches on the quilt with her beautiful longarm quilting, I loved it even better than my OWN quilt! So here is Doris' version of A to Z for Ewe and Me!!
Thanks, Janet, for letting me play along. It was a lot of fun playing with you all those months! DorisTags: None

Good morning! I really like your choice of colors! I plan on starting this project after finishing up another project next week. I have also been thinking of doing hand applique for the letters. I have started another alphabet block, using Janice Vaine's back-basting technique, and I'm loving it! Thank you for showing us your quilt, it is very pretty and has a "warm" feel to it.

Thanks for your comments. Yellow makes me happy on days like today when the sun doesn't shine, and in Kansas in the winter, we have lots of dark days. I was very glad I chose yellow as my background fabric as it helped me smile thru frustrations. Although the "plain-ness" of the yellow disturbed me when there were large areas.....so I just added more stars and circles in those spaces! My advice to you who plan to make Janet's BOM is to read her "things you need to know" and pay attention. I will say I was a doubter on some things which I thought were a waste of time; but am totally convinced that her way of doing things is why her quilts are total perfection!! I used a boatload of Elmer's School Glue and a ton of starch. Plus those fabulous LocBloc rulers that are practically no fail. To top it off, Theresa Ward's quilting made it zing! PLUS "Now I know my A, B, C's!!! Now all of you get back to work on YOUR BOM's!!

OK...crying "uncle" here. I'm still not sure that I will finish this project, but here are some of the blocks that I got done before the cancer thing interrupted my life!
As usual, I didn't follow the instructions!
