English Paper Piecing, Hexies and Beyond!

I'd love it if members who enjoy this form of hand work would jump in and show us your progress and projects.
English Paper Piecing utilizes stiffish paper forms which we then glue or baste our fabric over, then stitch the components together
It isn't paper foundation piecing which you use a machine to stitch your fabric to the lines on a larger pattern.
The project I'm working on is the cover quilt from Millefiori Quilts by Willyne Hammerstein. I found my copy at http://paperpieces.com/ They also had a starter pack of papers for my La Passacaglia quilt to get me going. Easy peasy!
My La Pas quilt is made up of different configurations of rosettes, set off by circles of stars. To give an idea of size the star points are 3/4" wide by 3/4" long.
At this time I'm calling it "the one that got away"...can you see why? I'm no perfectionist obviously...

That's amazing Sharyn. What size are the small pentagons inside the stars? They look tiny. You would have to point out the one that got away for me because I can't really see it. What will the eventual size be? I look forward to seeing this beauty progress. :cheer:
Here is mine so far. Not nearly as complex as yours. My hexagons are slightly less than 3/4". I print out sheets of hexagons and cut them to size but didn't realise that my Mac was printing them out smaller than 3/4" until I was about 1/3 of the way along, We don't have any of the ready-made ones here and it's too expensive to import 6000+ by post.
It's completely scrappy and I did not think a great deal about placement of each flower or diamond before attaching them. Actually now that I look at it I am a little further along as I have got the next round of white done. It's about 60" so far. I can only do so much before my hands start to ache so it's getting slower and slower to finish. But I will get there eventually. Doing each of the flowers or diamonds as a separate item has made it possible to take it along with me wherever I go which helps. I love hand stitching and am at my most contented when I have a needle and thread in my hands. When this is done I am sure I will start another.
:cheer:

That is gorgeous Reetz, thank you for sharing your project!
The small gold pentagons are 3/4" per side, about 1-1/4 inch wide at the widest point. That is my 'constant' color throughout to help make the finished project cohesive.
The prepped first three rows of a rosette, a couple of threaded needles, and little scissors fit in an envelope, I always have one in my purse. Today I'll be waiting for my car being serviced, yipee, time to sew
Posy, yes it is the backward bee in the big rosette. Rob is the one who noticed it and it drives him crazy. I just makes me smile. I'm always the square peg too...
I love things to look forward to, today it will be the promised photos!
