    Hi quick question

I wonder if anyone would mind
If I ask a novice question about my quilts. No matter how hard I try when I quit my quilt sandwich, stitch in the ditch,I get a wrinkle someplace ...what am I doing wrong? And can I fix the wrinkle?
Thank you kindly for your time and attention

Basting is the most important step in the quilting process. Use the big SEARCH box at the top of the page, type BASTING and you will find several shows and many Classrooms where good basting is explained.

Barbara Thank you so very much I am going to watch every episode on basting
I am so happy I was completely stuck and thought well perhaps I'm just not going to figure this part out, or maybe you need a $$$$ machine to get flat quilts I have so much hope!!!
      Thank you so very much!

Janis, Have you ever tried temporary spray basting your quilt. I use 505. From your description it sounds like you are sewing along
and the presser foot is pushing the fabric and after a ways it makes a tuck. If you used spray baste and put a walking foot on your
machine, I would think that would take care of it. The walking foot is basically feed dogs on the foot, so having feed dogs on
both sides of the fabric it feeds thru smoothly. You can google both spray basting a quilt, and how feeds dogs help when quilting
and you get get some background on it. If your problem is something else, if you put a picture in you forum post it is easier to
    trouble shoot it. HelenW

100% cotton batting helps too. I use Request and have basted, with thread and safety pins removing as you quilt. I quilt by hand and machine with a walking foot. I have also used 505 basting spray. If the quilt is a runner or small quilt I have used fusible batting too.
I wish you much success. shoeboxquilts
