I had planned to participate in this SAL, but other projects have got in the way. Someday I will get this done. In the meantime, I wanted to share a frog I stitched on a quilt I recently finished. Photo is from before longarming. It’s amazing what you can do with just thread! I used bullion knots for legs, double cast-on stitches for body, pistol stitches for feet and tongue and french knots for eyes.

Hi Carole, Your frog is so darn cute. Just love, love, love it. Please, please, please show a picture of the quilt.
I am always so blown away by your talent and creativity. I am currently in the part of summer designated as the
No Sew Summer Time. An agreement I made with my husband because we have so much to do around the property.
I have been bitten by the Sue Spargo bug. A really good friend gifted me the Bloom BOM that she was also doing.
Mine started late, first month I got was in April. I have done month 1 and half of month 2. All new, all very time
consuming and of course I still have to work on my other BOMs. I can see why my husband wanted a no sew time.
It is all so much fun. Looking forward to seeing where that cute frog above lives on the quilt.

Life does get in the way. I love your frog. I learned the bullion stitch while doing the wishes project and will use it again.

having fun, but working full time this summer haven't had as much time to devote to it as I should. Finishing the last chain stitch, then want to start on the leaves

I’m finished with Wishes project. I backed mine with a cotton fabric and no batting and very little quilting. I am happy with it and really enjoyed making.

Hi Sandy F. Your Wishes turned out beautiful. I had to zoom in to see those cute little bees.
Are they buttons? I am in the no time to sew part of summer. After Labor Day I will dust off
my sewing machine and get back to it. Until then I will just be wishing I was working on Wishes.
Thanks Alex Anderson for a truly fun, fun, fun project. HelenW

I've just finished my Dandelion Wishes quilt. I used Oakshott cottons for the background and border. I hand stitched the quilting on the border using a fern stitch (I think) which helped to pull it square!

        Hi Helen,

Just seeing your post from last month. I’ve included a photo of my full quilt (click photo to see the whole thing). It hung in its first show at the end of July at the Maine Quilts show. I was thrilled to receive 1st in the appliqué category and even more thrilled to get Viewers Choice! Second time for that honor at the Maine show.

Welcome to the world of Sue Spargo! I am also doing Bloomer. Way behind on it, but jumped ahead to work on the center block. I think I remember you saying you didn’t do Facebook, but I would highly encourage you to join the Bloomer Facebook group. Lots of very helpful info plus great inspiration!

Congratulations on your ribbons...Hi Carole, What a magnificent wool quilt. It is like an I Spy quilt.
So many little things to see. Love all the little critters. Is the background linen or wool? The dense
quilting is a good option, considering how much you had to maneuver around all the applique.
You are right about the Facebook. We don't do any of the major social media sites. My husband
doesn't like them having access to our info. I can live with it, but I know I miss a lot of
quilting stuff. I got Sue Spargo's book Of A Feather. Such a cute quirky quilt. Did you do that one?
Also signed up to do Full Bloom as a BOM from Shabby Fabrics. I love the batik fabrics it uses.
I will be adding a bunch of butterflies and dragonflies etc to my version. Thanks for posting the
picture. It is truly amazing work. HelenW

        Helen,

Thanks! Background is linen, my favorite to work with. I think the tree is my favorite part of the quilt. That and the 1300 Palestrina knots I stitched on the back!

Carole, Only you would think of using palestrina knots to look like piping only prettier on the back no
less. Really pretty backing fabric and the orange/blue combination is one of my favorite. Is that
#5 pearl cotton? Thanks for posting the picture. Any pictures you like to share, I love to see.
